They try topics that draw fear or anger porn readers (in this case contagion), and then when they hit on something like how viral the China story went, they print everything they can on anything that draws similar fear, be it old, new, overhyped, whatever they can dig up. And find a justification to call it all “current news”. You will see a few more of these stories there until it burns out, then on to the next topic.
