Morgan State got their first MEAC win last night, posting 100+ in an OT game against the boys from Durham (NCCU). Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
We are having a blast with the pick 'em you started way back when. Any idea about what year was the first?
You mean you guys weren't keeping track??? Was early 2000s - don't know exactly. It was well established by the time we won in 2006. I don't think I had started it by that first Final Four run in 2000.
Hello Gotham, wow, was it you that put those invisible covers on the UT rims? Lol Clang, air, clang, clang......
Cooper Flagg scored at least one basket last night according to ESPN. I'm not sure about the rest of his night or if they lost but they got their one highlight for the whole show.
Yeah - turns out we had a sound defensive plan. Leave them open from three and let the shoot it all they want.
I think that originally it wasn't picking the score but closest to picking the spread correctly. I think that I might have a twelve pack coming my way from the original competition but if I ever meet Gotham Gator in person I am buying the first round and maybe the second. And then I am over. I cannot drink like I could in grad school.
It was picking the score for each team. I also had MVG (Most Valuable Gator) and the stat of the day. And yes - the winner got a Mug of Ale. Maybe you can buy two the first time we meet, and then I cover the next six! I actually did pay up one time here in NYC.
We will see if this team can make up for that. This team reminds me a lot of Billy's 2014 team. Excellent team - undefeated in conference, won 30 straight, #1 overall seed. I think 1 player from that team played any significant minutes in the NBA. They got it done through toughness, effort and chemistry. I think our current squad might have all that.
Since @GothamGator was clearly asking about Ques Glover, I will sub in for @tampajack1 with an update. Back from injury on Dec 31 and had a good game against Kentucky. Monday had a good game off the bench in OT win at Minnesota. Also got a lot of minutes in conference opener loss to MSU.
@GothamGator gave me bad advice on where to watch the UF-UT football game in NYC in 99 or 2000. He said the "Gin Mill" was a big Gator bar. We went there and the Gator game was relegated to the basement where there was one 20" TV with the game on. At least it was a color TV lol.
How long have you been asleep? Anyways, if you haven't noticed, the SEC is now a combination of the old, classic Big East conference and the Blue Bloods of the ACC, especially in the eyes of the talking heads. It is AMAZING. The downside: it appears the basketball gods have bestowed it its power by taking it away from football. D'oh!
Someone told me that Texas and Oklahoma are in the SEC, but I don't believe it. Not only heresy, but patently absurd. That's as crazy as someone claiming that they went to the Gin Mill for a Florida game and only one TV had it on. For crying out loud, I watched the 2006 Florida-Tennessee football game there and met Joakim Noah.
