Sounds like too hot. Just last week I sat out 3 days for telling a poster to go ahead and do what he said he didn't blame someone for doing.

What’s so sad is that there are so many lies, especially perpetually pushed on various social media, that truth is basically dead in so far as political discourse goes. Barely any point in political discourse any longer when both sides “know” they are right and “the others” are sheep.

Yes, the US is a constitutional republic (for now). It is also a democracy. A constitutional republic is a form of democracy. It's similar to saying football is a sport. Your original statement, 'we are not and never have been a democracy' makes as much sense as saying 'football is not and never has been a sport'.

He's trying to curry favors from Trump... after his support in the $400 million range to Biden during the 2020 election.

Such a smarmy dude. He knows Trump is a forgiving man, and he wants to take advantage of that trait early on before his second term even starts. If I were Trump, I'd ask him for $400 million for his Trump Presidential Library.

This I agree with, because that's coercion- a crime which is prominent in Trump's playbook.

Ironically, political donation is considered free speech. Fun to see a Trumpy advocate for retaliating against someone for their free speech.

They don't even bother to hide their criminality, at this point. Who ever would have predicted it?

Oh, the horror. People making up their own minds about what bullshit to believe instead of having liberal bullshit spoonfed to them. The sky is falling! Our democracy!

The left just cannot handle the concept of competing in the marketplace of ideas.

Yeah, who would have thought that telling another poster he should kill himself would be looked down upon? This place is so unfair!

Yeah, but maybe now it will become possible to do so without fear of losing your job or worse. The left is losing its monopoly on "fact checking" and its power to silence disagreement with its "facts." Yes, the internet is full of misinformation. But there is no true final arbiter as long as everyone has an agenda, and everyone does. It's a mess. That's the world we live in. And as such, I'd rather decide for myself what is truth and what is a lie than have someone else doing it for me.

For major social media outlets? Until Musk bought Twitter, post-2016 the most prominent social media companies were left leaning and would censor folks on the right.

Too late . Gone and never coming back. Would be so sweet if people could organize a "Quit FB" campaign and turn that POS company into smoldering pile of rubble. Does anybody like Zucc (or the POS woman from Yahoo who runs FB)? No, everyone hates them. What's the holdup?

The word Democracy is not mentioned anywhere in the text of the Constitution

But they're not even good at that and just use AI/Algorithms to do it for them. So, in the end, it just becomes insulting and intellectually dishonest (see: lazy). Someone steals my profile, tries to make it seem like my dad by adding "Sr" at the end. Of course my dad goes by our middle name. I point this out, ask them to remove it and get this response: "After careful review we have denied your request". Meanwhile, they just pump crap at you all day. Even went on a campaign to block all the spam sites and they just kept sending me more.

Again, burn it to the ground.

Your link doesn’t say what you think it says.

A “constitutional republic” is still a “democracy.” It’s not a “direct democracy.”

Quit repeating talking points used to rationalize anti-democratic (small “d”) initiatives.

It also doesn’t mention your God, yet you seem to think it belongs in government.

What the CONUS does do is outline a literal democratic process. The Founders just never thought we’d be so stupid as to fail to recognize representative government as a democracy*.

*So long as you were a white, land-owning man. Imagine people on this board would be happy to regress to this point as well.
