Well, let the off season festivities begin. Nice to see some folks from winning, well run programs.

    UF Holds Football GM Interviews

“The group of candidates consist of former Jacksonville Jaguars GM David Caldwell, current Ole Miss GM Matt Lindsay, former Atlanta Falcons longtime director of football operations Nick Polk and current director of player personnel for the UFL’s Arlington Renegades Rick Mueller.

Caldwell, Lindsay and Mueller each have worked for current Philadelphia Eagles' GM Howie Roseman, a UF graduate, with Caldwell currently working with the organization as personnel executive. Lindsay previously worked under Roseman in the scouting department from 2013-14, while Mueller worked with the Eagles from 2012-16.”

Not surprising that the candidates have all worked with the Eagles. The consulting group that has been working for UF is run by a former Eagle.

HAIL NO to any "GM" that was a lifer in the NFL... Forget it. Give me a person that would rather be an AD for college football only, instead of that GM BS.

I've been saying this for several years that we need a FOOTBALL ONLY AD, to run all the day-to-day behind the scenes of football IN COLLEGE... Not some NFL GM that is there to "transition" college football to some semi-pro league, rife with all the things that I despise about the NFL. The unions, lawyers, contracts, collective bargaining and STRIKES... HAIL NO to that BS...

Professional sports IS political BS. Let's keep the politics out of our college athletics forever.

I guess that is the way the world is going. The colleges are going to try run a pro sports league and try to do it tax free. Its just another giant leap away from the actual purpose of higher education.

No kidding, had no idea. He's one of the best GM's in the NFL.

Also read about Ran Carthon, hope he lands on his feet and works his way to another shot. The Titans job was a mess and it was a surprise he made it to GM role to me

Not sure if it is too late to interview him. Others were underwhelming to me.

NY Giants just let him go

He has a great gig right now. I doubt he'd leave that security for college football.

I imagine he would need some time to come to terms with his parting from the Titans but after that I could see his being open to talk to UF. Not sure how moving to college GM level would be considered by someone widely known to be a qualified NFL GM.

Howie Roseman GM of the Eagles is also being considered. Also a Gator grad. Can't count him as underwhelming. Don't think he will leave that job in Philly. Unless they win the Super Bowl and he can go out on top.

Unless he is retiring from Eagles, Roseman is not in our list of candidates. He is helping with search and has recommended a few candidates, one that works for him currently

It's going to be interesting to see what makes a good college GM. I can't imagine it's going to be a cut-and-paste thing from the NFL. Andrew Luck is someone I'm keeping an eye on as we define what qualities are good for this role. . . . and, for that matter, what this role is going to fully entail.
