Trust me. I'm well aware and that's why I stay where I'm at. My parents live down in Vero and I don't care anything about it

My in-laws lived up in Tellico Plains, and it was a beautiful place to visit, but after three or four days of no Saltwater, it's time to go.

Just don’t get on the wrong side of the P-cola PD. They’re as corrupt as they come, and that comes from an officer that left the department to join FHP. He quit PPD because he was told by his supervisor to falsify evidence.

I’m in the Big Bend. Or as I like to refer to it: The armpit of Florida.

Yeah I lived in Panama City (Tyndall AFB) for 3 years and Daphne, AL (across the bay from Mobile) for 4 years. It certainly isn’t uncommon to get freezing temps in that region. Of course you can get freezing temps in central FL too, but I think the panhandle is the coldest coastal region in our state

If that’s how it needs to be lol.
I love it and all that it offers. But many of the communities are going the wrong direction economically.

I once lived in Jacksonville and it got down to 6 degrees with a wind chill of 20 below. Would have been in '84 or '85

December 1983. I left work at Bill's Mobil and Southside Beverage in Statesboro, GA at 5PM right as we closed and drove to Jax. The bucket of water for the window washer station was already frozen over. I got up the next morning in Jax and went for a run...6 degrees Fahrenheit. Lets just say that I didn't run far before turning around! :) I flew to Denver later that day where it was warmer.

Also in 1989 this happened in Jax:

If I'm not mistaken, that is Matthew's bridge looking east. Seems like it only gets really cold in FL when I'm in Colorado. I was in Steamboat Springs, CO on this day to ski and once again it was warmer there that day than in Jax.

I was in Gainesville- it was Jan 85 probably. Dec 83 was really cold too.
Low of 10 that day in Titletown. High barely above freezing.
I remember our track practice that day and I idiotically asked our coach (Coach Randolph) if we could shut down early due to weather.

He had coached at West Point before UF- and he didn't take kindly to my suggestion.

That was an almost new astroturf rug that was going to go bye-bye in a matter of a few short months....Spring game 1990 played up in Jax while they converted the field back to real grass thanks to SOS.

You sure that wasn't Jan 1986? That Jan morning was frigid while I was walking to my 8:30 class in Gaines-vegas....when I arrived, I was informed of the Shuttle disaster by a Grad Asst and that all classes were cancelled.

People here are complaining that there's not enough snow on the ground (skiing and dog sledding) and that the lakes have not frozen adequately.

Meh. Both teams have to play in it. Theoretically, OSU will be better acclimated, TX has a home field advantage.

The last 2 cold winters in Gainesville were 2018 (I think reached a low of 17?) and 2020 or 2021 (both in the 20s?)

Reaching a low in the 30s for winter is just another year.

    Im 100% sure...
For one we had a different coach by Jan 86. Coach Walker had taken over by then.
But also Jan 85 was at another level.
Reagan's inauguration had to be moved indoors, and Gainesville got to 10!!
