Florida population increased by 467k 411k of that were from countries other than the USA replacement conspiracy followers - they're coming for you Florida's population tops 23 million, growing faster than almost any other state | WLRN The Census Bureau estimated that Florida had 23,372,215 people as of July 1, up from 22,904,868 a year earlier. Florida’s increase of 467,347 people was second only to Texas, which gained 562,941. Also, Florida’s 2% growth rate trailed only the District of Columbia, which had a 2.2% rate, according to the Census Bureau. Texas and Utah each had 1.8 percent growth rates. .................... A news release accompanying the data said net international migration “was the critical demographic component of change driving growth in the (U.S.) resident population. With a net increase of 2.8 million people, it accounted for 84% of the nation’s 3.3 million increase in population between 2023 and 2024.” The Census Bureau said Florida, California and Texas had the largest gains from net international migration, with Florida showing a 411,322-person increase.
Trump and Desantis have ruined Florida so than now only immigrants from shithole countries want to move there. We need to build a wall around Florida because that is how these immigrants are getting there. BTW, North Carolina had 3Xs as many Americans moving to it than Florida did.
And yet Florida is still in the top 5, while New York and New Jersey are in the bottom 5 and California is once again dead last and losing population. Georgia wasn't even in the top 10 and yet I don't think anyone would argue that no one is moving to Georgia. In all honesty I would be fine with growth to Florida slowing significantly. It would help with getting the infrastructure more in line (thought obviously at this point it will never fully catch up) with the population growth and would allow for home prices to stabilize if not somewhat decrease. It would also mean we could stop destroying every forest and orange grove in site just to build more generic soulless homes 2 feet apart from each other or even more generic and soulless condos and apartments. Florida is full in the peninsula so I'm okay with slowing growth. North Carolina and South Carolina are going to find out the hard way that the growth Florida has experienced isn't always a good thing. Unlike in Florida the Northeast and Midwest transplants are going to find a local population who wants to keep their areas Southern. The old "such and such isn't as good as in New York" or "well here's how we do back in Ohio" statements that we here in Florida are all too used to aren't going to fly in non-urban areas of North Carolina and South Carolina. Home prices in both states have already increased dramatically. And their traffic is following right along with Florida in terms of becoming terrible. I-77 through Charlotte is absolutely awful and I-26 through Columbia during rush hour is also very unenjoyable. A friend of mine is from Charleston, South Carolina and he went back over the holidays. While his family is established there, literally all of his friends are looking to move out. Same story as Florida, the Northeast and Midwest people have come in, have started to change the feel of the city, have made the city utterly unaffordable and have made the traffic terrible. One of his friends commutes to Charleston from Goose Creek and it now takes him 50 - 60 minutes each way to make a 15 mile drive. That same drive 10 years ago took 20 - 30 minutes. Point is, they are having a lot of the same problems as Florida and it's going to get worse up there just like it did here. So I'm okay with Florida growth slowing down. 23 million is more than enough.
Growth in the Ocala area is killing the beauty of the area. They are buying up horse farms and plowing down any trees in the way to build rows of houses. Traffic is terrible. Many have move from South Florida to escape the traffic and crime and just brought it with them. I would be fine if they all just keep driving North and move to North Carolina.
Nooooooo! There is a term for you FL folks that move here: Floridiots. I’ve learned to tell folks i’m from Georgia when they ask. And they do ask.
Are they idiots for something that they do wrong or just because "it was ok for us to settle here, we don't want any other folks to settle here." Not that the latter sentiment is necessarily wrong, but the "idiot" aspect of the label would seem to be misplaced. As for the news about FLORIDA, this isn't a party specific joy/terror. It cramps the style of some on both ends. The idea that Internationals are making this state more culturally diverse in the wake of projections that everybody would be fleeing the state due to the conservative stranglehold is frustrating to some folks on the left. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
they really need to do something about impact fees in some counties where they aren't charging any or very low so the roads aren't being funded by new development.
Well you are getting your wish. Florida is becoming an unaffordable shithole so you dont have to deal with Americans moving there. If you cut off the immigration too you can get some falling house prices and collapsing tax structure - my fingers are crossed for you!
Aren't you attempting to mock Florida because Americans aren't moving there now....mostly immigrants from other countries? Did I read that wrong?
mocking those who hate immigrants while celebrating how attractive Florida is. without immigrants, there is practically zero growth in Florida last year
It’s not just the cost. I understand demand will drive prices up. But a lot of South Florida is becoming unlivable. I had to drive from West Broward County to Wynwood Miami area today for an 8am appointment. It’s 24 miles. I left at 6:45am. I got there 8:30am. The last 10 miles took 1h:15m. There were no accidents, just straight up congestion. And they keep building more high rises.
My wife and I are members of a newcomers group here in Charlotte, NC. I’d estimate fully 90% of the members are from NY.
