Does anyone remember when GC was Swampie ?

Did we ever find out who he was ?

I also remember how, in the aftermath of the Columbine massacre he went off on a bizarre rant against homeschooling.

Trump’s first instinct was to oppose deadly lockdowns. It was rather the people who pressed for lockdowns who didn’t care if people died.

You probably need to rethink this.

Trump was (later admittedly) lying to the US public a mere two weeks after the first case hit. When we had 11 publicly known cases, he was lying to the public that it wasn't serious, and that it would soon go away.

It's hard to think that that doesn't count as "early on."

It's also simply mind-blowing that he apparently hasn't received consequences for this totally willful and dishonest dereliction of duty, even to the point that he is (rightly) considered entirely unfit for office.

The first COVID-19 case (confirmed via serological test) in the US was reported in Washington state on January 20, 2020, the same day as the first reported case in South Korea [40], [41].

Remember how, at the outset of computer printout, Trump imposed travel restrictions on China and Democrats cried, “Xenophobe!” ?

    No need to rethink.

I said many legit people didn’t know early on what Covid was in its beginning state. Still remember reading numerous articles with different opinions.

Looking back different responses from total shutdowns to few changes affected lots of people in different ways. We are still feeling the effects of the shutdowns.

I lived on the beach. When DeSantis restricted or limited access I watched high school age kid after kid, some I knew, come and party like there were no rules. Not one to my knowledge passed away from covid.

On the flip side our local old people’s homes where rules were followed, many got covid and passed away. Many without seeing their families.

Then there were the ones like myself who got covid shots and were allowed into certain businesses, airplanes, etc. They spread covid because the shots eliminated the effects of the virus to where they mingled without knowing they had it.

Then we were told to wear a mask that didn’t do crap but give you the impression you were protected from or couldn’t spread the virus. We were duped again.

You can go on about Trump. The only way we could have done anything legit would have been a total lockdown at home for all of America and you and I know that crap wouldn’t have worked, just like all the different rules put in place during the early stages.

Once again,,, We are fortunate covid has morphed into a flu like virus.

Trump's travel restrictions on travelers from China was a political stunt. It only applied to aliens primarily Chinese. US citizens, aliens with green cards and a number of other categories were exempt from the restrictions as if they couldn't have been infected prior to reentering the US and transmiting the virus after entering the US.

The problem wasn't with Spring breakers dropping dead. It was with the potential for infected students traveling on spring break to become infected and ending up spreading the virus to vulnerable persons and that effect was real.

You seem to have a pretty incorrect view on what happened during covid. Such as that the vaccines helped cause the spread. Or that lockdowns or mask wearing didn't effectively limit the spread.

In hindsight, the best course of action would have been more large-scale and uniform initial lockdowns.

Instead, what we saw was the almost immediate politicization of the issue. Hmmmm, I wonder if this was partially caused by the ****ing President of the United States of America calling it a hoax designed by his political opponents?

The debate on the proper extent of mask wearing or lockdowns can go on into perpetuity, as scientific opinion will differ, and there will be a subjectivity to the debate.

    So.......

.....and it still wouldn't be adequate criticism of his intentional dereliction of duty.

What can absolutely NOT be debated is that outright lying and intentional politicization from the very top of the US government, to the point of contradicting and demonizing our top health professionals, is nothing less than an obscene and intentional dereliction of leadership. A complete dedication to selfishness when American lives were literally at stake.

    Breitbart?

tangerine man's lack of serious response made covid much worse. He should have made a statement from Oval Office encouraging everyone to take this seriously and tackle it head on. This would have limited the Covid impact and he would have won in 2020 in a landslide.

Silly. We had and have the best economy in the world which recovered faster than anywhere else in the world. We saw one of the worst death rates in developed nations. Neither of those scream "we did the wrong thing being too safe".

The impact to the economy was not being able to get goods from other countries due to their shut downs. We dont make shit here and they had chip issues and labor issues up the wazzu. Whether or not you were asked to wear a mask (God forbid) or stand in line a few feet from another human (God forbid!) didnt effect the economy like not being able to get goods then having them clogged in an aged supply chain that Trump never updated.

    What a homer you are.

Everything about 2020 was not knowing what to do, but having to do something. If Trump’s limited actions were a stunt, then so was Democrats attending their first ever Chinatown parades and using the occasion to smear Trump as a xenophobe.

We had the best economy and the worst death rate. That is the opposite of your narrative. I pray you are just trolling and not that clueless or you will be a burden to your nations services, however they do things over there.

I already acknowledged our near worst death rate (possibly worst in absolute terms) due to panic and despair.
