Trump is president and announced he will pardon the January 6th rioters. Imagine being told four years ago this is where we’d end up. “My fellow officers and I were punched, kicked, shoved, sprayed with chemical irritants by a violent mob,” Capitol Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell testified to Congress about his experience in the tunnel on Jan. 6. “I could feel myself losing oxygen and recall thinking to myself: ‘this is how I’m going to die - defending this entrance.’” Gonell says his injuries from Jan. 6 were so severe that he needed to undergo two surgeries, and ultimately had to retire from the Capitol Police.” As Trump rewrites history, victims of the Jan. 6 riot say they feel 'betrayed' “I tried to protect elected officials, regardless of their political ideology, and their staffs inside the Capitol building — all without firing my gun. For my efforts doing my duty as a Capitol Police sergeant, I was beaten and struck by raging rioters all over my body with multiple weapons until I was covered in my own blood. My hand, foot and shoulder were wounded. I thought I was going to die and never make it home to see my wife and young son. Over the last four years, it’s been devastating to me to hear Donald Trump repeat his promise to pardon insurrectionists on the first day he’s back in office. “It will be my great honor to pardon the peaceful protesters, or as I often call them, the hostages,” he said in a speech last year. But all of us who were there and anyone who watched on TV know that those who stormed the Capitol were not peaceful protesters. Pardoning them would be an outrageous mistake, one that could mean about 800 convicted criminals will be back on the street. It could also put me in danger,” Opinion | What I Saw on Jan. 6 Still Haunts Me
I think that, because Trump won the election, we're all supposed to lie and pretend that he didn't instigate an attack on the United States, which was part of a criminal conspiracy to overturn an election. In other words, we're supposed to pretend that Trump isn't a traitor to the Untied States.
we don't need to pretend because only libs think him a traitor- I think he is a patriot and a patriot you will be able to scream and cry about for the next 4 years
Well I’ll be taking the day off tomorrow but mainly because work will be closed on account of the snow
Plenty of normie Republicans detest the unAmerican trump. More than one of them received a Presidential medal Friday. Opposing trump means you are a good American, not necessarily a liberal.
If we remember January 6th was nothing but ANTIFA and BLM rioters. Since that's the case why is Trump pardoning them and why is MAGA celebrating it?
That bunch was quite non violent when compared to the "peaceful protesters" from the previous 6 months.
so when they build statue to honor the j6 mob, which image to go with? The gallows, the guy with his feet up on Pelosi's desk, the guy with the rebel flag walking through the rotunda, cops being assaulted? elected officials running for their lives? so many to choose from.
Thankfully our government did not fall, but that half the country takes pride that a bunch of modern day barbarians sacked our capitol is disturbing. #rome2.0
correction: disagreeing with Trump means you are a commie who hates america. More of that false dichotomy bullshit.
