Was Obama shot/wounded in or on the head as Trump was last summer? Trump lost his re-election campaign in 2020 and it seemed for a short time his political career was dead, finished, kaput. Even some of his most ardent fans on this very forum mocked those who still thought him a threat after his 2020 loss. And lo and behold, who did indeed return to re-ignite his his electorate for yet a 2nd term.

Obama had his ardent followers, of course, but never on a scale approaching what Trump has wrought. Trump's ascendancy into power was made possible by his coalition with Christian leaders of questionable faith.

 

Maybe the Donald can make up for his lack of intelligent ideas by using his authoritative voice to tell other countries what to do . . .

In commemoration of the death of President Harry Truman flags were flying at half staff during Nixon's inauguration in 1973. The fact that the nation was still in a period of mourning for the death of a former president didn't really bother Nixon but then Nixon despite his many flaws unlike Trump wasn't inflicted Narcissistic Personality Disorder, the real Trump Derangement Syndrome. In fact it was Nixon himself as the sitting president who issued the proclamation for the 30-day period of mourning following Truman's passing.

Stop the presses! Donald Trump may not be the most insane person in the republican party. Elon Musk is going to challenge him. Musk's latest idea is to liberate the British people and take over their government, putting some government officials in prison. This going to cause a YUGE problem for Trump, because Musk is coming out against rape, which has historically been one of Trump's favorite hobbies (along with golf). And he wants to jail a British official for being an "apologist" for rape--what will he suggest we do when he finds out there is an actual rapist in the White House? It's only a matter of time before Musk demands that someone put Trump in prison. Also, it is apparent that whatever Musk's position in the government is, he outranks Vance. If he jails Trump, will the next president be Musk or Vance? Will Vance know that he's been passed over for President?

Either way, it's clear that diplomacy in the U.S. government has never been more impressive, yet in a highly disturbing way. And we have not even gotten to Day 1 of the Trump Years, Second Edition. Will the BBC and King Charles support the Elon Musk plan?
