I’m sure DJ was a big reason for pulling Wilson. But I just think it’s odd that anyone would minimize a coach’s impact just because they have a dynamic QB that helps attract talent.

I would think a Day 2 guy. Nothing wrong with that. Lots of talent but he just came across as disinterested at times this season.

But I didn’t minimize his coaching. I just asked if it was NiL or Lagway because until Lagway proved himself it wasn’t Nil or Gonzalez.

I even mentioned that it was more about personality versus coaching. Ffrench wasn’t even interested nor smith. Not taking anything away from BG. He’s coached great ones and has pulled great ones. Same is being said about Rob Sale and his ability to connect.

Im sure Napier, DJ and the bag as well as being closer to home factor in for most situations.

In the end, yes. I am grateful and I have no issues keeping BG. That may all depend on the new off coord, if there is one.

If an oc comes and has power to make staff changes, hes being given alot more power than i thought napier would concede.

Yep - as much as I’d like to see Billy hire an OC, we’re a whole lot better off changing nothing than bringing in someone who isn’t the right guy

Agreed, but in this stint with us, most production has come from transfers, not the players he developed from high school. There needs to be a quick turnaround on that because there is enough high school talent now.

What is the pint of asking a hypothetical that is impossible to answer? All coaches have NIL now, what does that even matter?

lol he is literally one of the best in the league, just look at his resume. He’s been here for two years and has brought in VB3, Wilson, badger, Duke….made pets all a first rounder to a team that values WR a lot which nobody saw coming, I we are really grasping at straws if we are looking for holes in our WR coaching right now. One of the best rooms on our team, hands down.

he is also credited with other positions such as Kair elam and Jon Bostic

Had a lot of great transfers as well. Van Jeff from Ole Miss. His father was a past NFL WR and was a NFL WR coach at the time. He was comfortable with his son playing for Billy. Grimes from Ohio State, kid from Penn State, …. Just had a transfer drafted in first round last year that improved his draft stock under Billy. Had two transfers this year that did well at UF despite playing with 3 QBs last year. At LSU as WR coach, the team signed two WRs later drafted high and still playing in the NFL. Was hired as OC at Illinois shortly after that. Has coached a lot of talented players.

and you do know he was the reason the WR room needed to be re flipped again after the Mullen era right?

And you know he’s the reason it got flipped right?

Why is the 2 years he was here under Mullen (one of our worst recruiting HCs ever) the point of focus but not the years he was bringing in (and developing at a very high rate) players like Percy, VB3, Dallas etc.
Not to mention that WR corps along with Pitts was one of our best offenses ever lol- his first year back I think.

If we fire a WR coach after bringing in two 5 stars. A high 4 star, and a high ceiling 3 stars, all while having a great resume of development, what are we even doing here? What is the point of being a WR coach at UF?

Not having a generational TE certainly contributed

Devils advocate. Outside of runningback what positions did we recruit well under Mullen?

We had hugely productive years by players at various positions and none of those translated to recruiting their replacements. Polite, Greenard, Pitts, CGJ any of the wide receivers like van Jefferson, Toney, etc
