I am not against H1-B Visas in general, but that’s definitely an area that’s been abused.

I have no issues with hiring those workers, but there have also been cases of H1-B1 straight up replacing American counterparts. Pretty sure that isn’t supposed to happen, but I guess it isn’t enforced so companies feel comfortable. Didn’t Disney a few years back do something blatant like have the American workers literally train their H1B1 replacements?

In a very tight labor market maybe the hires are more additive, rather than just about cost saving/willingness to do more hours. I’m definitely ok with immigrants for additive hires, less so with using them to undercut existing workers or even get around labor rules. I feel the same for unskilled labor as I do skilled. The numbers we allow should align with what is needed (and right now we have a tight labor market).

I wouldn’t go that far (or maybe you were being sarcastic), but I’d certainly agree with the premise of making them all pay into the system. Huge % would immediately sign up and be above board if we simply allowed them to. Even if only half of them do, massively increasing work visas drastically narrows the field of so-called “illegals”.

 

Well I am not sure how serious I am. Certainly we need to stop terrorists from coming in. I am serious about making people who employ illegals pay for it. Illegal aliens aren’t the issue. Criminal employers are. We either need to jail them or take away the advantage to hiring illegals.

 

Oh I agree. But I think at this point alot of these ag and construction jobs are just about *only* going to illegals.

Part of that may be because illegals are working for cash or undercutting American workers (not unlike the phenomenon of H1-B1 “legally” replacing American tech workers for less pay and longer hours). It’s hard to know how many Americans would take those labor jobs. If there was an ag worker visa program then they’d at least have to pay into the system and close the gap on whatever “undercutting” is going on.

I would guess that Northern Russians are smarter than Ukrainians. Compare outcomes for people living on the northern US border with people living on the southern borders.

Import super high IQ Brahmin caste people from people from India? (I would guess on average they're 10+ IQ points smarter than Ashkenazi Jews). What's great about superbrains is one or a few of them can invent something like the cellphone that creates lots of jobs for people already here.

High IQ MAGA solution (possibly)? Let in a select few superbrains (many will be Brahmins) and export lower IQ illegals, especially those with criminal records. This makes the US more competitive, raises the national IQ average and should reduce future deficits. The reduction in population would be good for the environment.

Elon does seem to think our population could be beneficislly increased by a few hundred million more people . That's wrong and I hope he figures that out. Bad for the environment and our supply of natural resources.

Going forward what will happen with Elon?
1) As I said on Twitter in 2021 Musk needs to reform our Healthcare system and big gov't letting Milton Friedman be his guide. Now Musk is reforming our gov't and posting videos and statements from Friedman.

2) Musk will call for decreasing licensure requirements to help spread income to the middle class and below. He'll figure it out.

3) Online education will become free with better accreditation

4) Musk will realize that he needs to form a 3rd political party. All members will pledge to enact the party platform. They will sign a blood oath of allegiance and if they detour from the party platform without permission from Elon they will face execution by the American people (per the blood oath they sign). That's how you get stuff done.

5) Elon will marry Kai Trump and they will form a monarchy to keep America on the straight path going forward.

This is going to be a great administration for me. My company can hire more HB-1 employees. Tax cuts for the top tier. Reduced corporate income tax. Fewer rules for us. Big difference here. Ag workers are taking jobs most Americans don't want to do and won't do for that price. Elon and his Tech bro buddies just want cheaper talent. There are plenty of American's who can do those jobs and would be willing to do those jobs, but they want to be paid market value and Elon wants to pay them a small fraction of market value.
