I never really got "The Low Down" on exactly "why" Raymond was let go. He came to UF with a coaching rep like that of Vince Lombardi.

Not that I am completely oblivious, the W-L record and the "stats" of the defensive backfield speak for themselves and they were not good in 2023.

I was, and am, curious if Raymonds ousting was a result of personality conflict, coaching philosophy, recruiting, job performance, what have you. At the time of his hire, his reputation was such that I would have put him at the "top" of the UF football coaches list, as far as job security goes.

Anyway, I thought there might have been more to the story than what was released by UF.

When did Raymond have the rep of Vince Lombardi? He was a great recruiter, and so-so coach, still is. There’s a reason his ceiling has been db coach. None of my LSU buddies were sad to see him go or thrilled to have him back.

Merely a play on words, the point being, when Raymond was announced to UF it was quite the "buzz".

Sounds like your typical Alabama hypocrite. Quite a plethora of those in that state. Probably a lot of other states too though TBH.

Agreed. I do think we would have beaten UGA this particular year had we not lost the QB. But that's another story. I think in general he will bounce between 8-10 wins depending on talent levels and strength of schedule. I'll stop there before I rant. Lol

Online has done better.. if that is Sale or not.. I don’t know.
WR.. it seems our best WR have ALL come from the portal. Are the HS guys being developed and just taking more time to see the field? Is there a better option?
MP.. no idea. I haven’t been greatly impressed with our DE rushers. But again. Who do we bring in.

agree. I haven’t been a fan of Napiers slow replacement of coaches process. He got burned waiting on guys for his first staff at UF and the timing of letting some coaches find jobs vs publicly firing them quickly (Toney) led to late hires and again, not the best candidates. If coached won’t be retained it would be best to hire replacement since bowl season is over and new staffs are hired everywhere - don’t want to wait until the dust settles and everyone has found a job already and limit UFs choices.

Gonzales just got here, I thought. Seems premature. Our WR class was not great, but solid. If Napier reached a level of demanding that he told his staff, recruit with the big boys or you will be replaced, I would be good with it. Re Sale, doubt he's told to move on, but more because of relationship and trust though I don't feel he makes that much of a difference in his role as "OC".

Well.......yesssss, the product on the field was unimpressive considering the pedigree of Raymond coming in. And, he missed signing the higher rated secondary kids in UFs traditional recruiting grounds.

I guess I was expecting more considering all the hoopla surrounding his signing on.

A number of posters have indicated the guy was/is overrated, but if memory serves, on this site at least, getting Corey was a huge deal.

With Jackson Arnold in his first year? I doubt it, but otherwise they are loading up with talent.

No one knows, but with the addition of OU and UT, 9 wins are going to sound really good to a lot of blueblood programs in the SEC. Everybody in the SEC recruits well and gets great coaches.
