Cats can get sick with bird flu. Here's how to protect them A case of frozen turkey in cat food being the source of transmission. There was an article earlier about slow gumit intervention in stopping the spread earlier at poultry farms. Made earlier tongue in cheek comment comparing to chronic wasting disease. But with all the cat eaters at large, this could be catastrophic.
Personally it wouldn't upset me if all the cats got sick and died........Before anybody accuses me of being a cat racist, I'm allergic.
Cats do decimate the bird population. There was a pope who banned cats for being somehow devil adjacent. This happened close to the start of the plague. Some think that the elimination of cats led to a boost in the rat population. I have never researched this myself so take this anecdote for what it’s worth. Almost nothing.
I used to dislike cats until a mouse died in my car dash. That sat while I was on vaycay. In August. I have a couple barn cats now.
This could be a real problem for the big cat population https://www.npr.org/2024/12/26/nx-s1-5239841/bird-flu-kills-20-cats-washington-sanctuary

Yeah, anyone who doesn't like cats, hasn't had a mouse/rat issue. A couple of sightings of those little @#$#$'rs 'll make a cat lover out of anyone.

This is no joke that the avian flu has now mutated and is now virulent to mammals. Definitely need to keep an eye on this in the coming months. Could potentially be the next pandemic...
