You may be right, but Shane Matthews says Mertz has a good enough arm to be a backup in the league for years.

 

That's interesting. I would think Shane would agree with me but he doesn't, and he certainly knows a lot more about football at every level than I do. I base my opinion on how Mertz threw deep passes and didn't seem to throw very many seam routes. If a QB can't throw those two types of passes the NFL will lock down on everything else and that QB won't be very effective.

Serious question: does Klatt do game coverage live? I would assume color commentary? If so he needs to put a lid on the smart ass routine with coaches. If he just does in studio commentary he can be the midwest version of Finebaum and act the fool. If he is going to stadiums and calling games he needs to be a little more reserved or he's going get pelted with rotten tomatoes some day in the south.
