Why not just allow players to attend college and play football for as long as they want? No 5 years to play 4. Let a guy get 2-10 degrees as long as he is productive and can live with NIL if he is not good enough to make a pro team. Also if a player gets cut from a pro team and wants to return to college, let him. CHAOS, uncontrolled CHAOS!!!!

Because of the direct, negative impact the chaos of football is having on every other sport. One result of this kind of chaos is the fun and excitement of wondering what may come next for our favorite teams and speculating about how long our favorite players may be able to stick around in the future. Another result will be the dramatic and increasing loss of scholarship opportunities for high school kids and the likely elimination of more non revenue teams to continue to pump resources into the ever deepening hole of D1 football expenses. Some won't care. But some of us do. And the eggs broken to make whatever kind of omelet this eventually becomes will be real kids who have their scholarships and college opportunities disappear into the chaos.

The fourth string defensive in can go Play for Sanford. It would be interesting to see Tebow and crew come back in 2012 and win another title.

UF could have Mertz return to back up Lagway, Crenshaw-Dickson return at OT, Bridges and Turner at S, Big Des at NG and Badger and Dike return if their NFL grades aren't high enough to suit them. The transfer portal might not be needed as much for UF this year.

I like that. Stay eligible as long as you’re working towards something higher. Bachelors, masters, phd. Don’t get to hang around and get a bunch of basketweaving and pe degrees.

A player like Jack Pyburn could play college football for many more years if he
doesn't demand to be a starter. You could also pay a player NFL rookie money if he's a valuable player for you and won't be a high draft pick.

If I were able to play college level sports back in the day and basically had unlimited years to play I would've stayed and got multiple degrees. I would've taken a couple of Political Science classes and got my second degree and gotten a Business Administration degree too and maybe even something like a geology degree also.

I didn't look into it but if I could've been paid to be a student I would've stayed at UF until I was in my 30s, maybe even longer than that!!! I truly loved living in Gainesville.

Yeah we’d have probably gotten the opportunity to see what #15 could have done at linebacker

My advisor had to push me down the aisle cause I had more credits than needed.

Nowadays they charge you extra if you don't finish. An "excessive hours" surcharge. Inhuman!

It won't be long until someone that actually played snaps in the NFL comes back and plays snaps in college. Sounds crazy, right? Just wait...

I had a few extra credit hours too. I would've gotten degrees in several subjects. School was never very difficult for me except for when I was required to draw a cross section of some organism and label all of its parts in a zoology midterm. I dropped that zoology class and never took any more zoology classes after that.

Lots of playing time and money reasons... But also plenty of older NFL players who want to live it up (poontang) on campus.

Biology always escaped me. I wasn’t good at Chemistry either. Physics - no problem. It’s interesting how different minds vary so much in their ability (and inability) to process different things.

He does not have the arm strength to be anywhere near effective in the NFL. I think he even mentioned something about maybe getting into coaching. If Danny Weurffel couldn't make in the NFL Mertz definitely can't make it either.

I can't draw pictures that look anything like they're supposed to!! I could remember most of the parts but I couldn't put them where they were supposed to be. I think if I would've known that was going to be part of the test I could've practiced it and done a lot better, but that didn't happen so goodbye, zoology!!!
