I worked on commercial fishing and shrimp boats as a kid (family). In the '80's, I crewed on racing sailboats all over Florida and down to Cuba, the Caribbean and Mexico.

No respectable American male drops a deuce on a boat unless he's on it for longer than 24 hours, and then he craps in a bucket. Crapping on the head, which then goes into a holding tank (at least these days), will ensure you won't be invited back.

As for sea sickness, there is one guaranteed cure: jump overboard and hang out for a few minutes.

Ha! That’s funny. No, don’t have any Marantz holy grail receivers lying around, just a lowly 2230 and an 8B tube power amp. I’m impressed you know of Marantz audio!
When I was about 27, I bought from one of those local newspaper classified things for sale a Marantz 7 preamp, Marantz 8B amp, and a Marantz 10B tuner, all vacuum tube for $150. I sold this set for $2200; should have kept it. Worth about $12k now. These are amazing pieces of audio engineering, all built in the early 1960’s right here in the US! If you ever need some piece of audio, I could try to locate for you.

Me too and I don’t fish! I think I caught one fish in my life and hooked in his eye! My friend, GCer TarponBro is an avid fisherman who tried to teach me to fish when we were kids but it never took, too much sports to play. My father was no sports outdoorsman type so I wasn’t brought up in it.

I’ve gone overboard to poop. Once. Still better than pooping in the boat. BTW, it’s good to be back on topic here. Thanks again AA

It’s easy to wipe your ass when you’re in the water. Just gotta figure out the current and which direction to point your butt

No one in my family hunted or fished either. I just saw some other kids fishing and tried it and loved it and that hasn't changed. When I was young I taught myself how to fish and duck hunt. Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, Sports Afield, Florida Sportsman, Southern Outdoors and Saltwater Sportsman were my textbooks on the subjects of hunting and fishing, so to speak. That, combined with the fact that I lived a couple of blocks from the St. Johns River and had access to some people's docks on the river and I also lived a couple of blocks from a creek that ran into the St Johns, gave me plenty of opportunities to learn how to fish with both bait and artificials. There was also a duck pond about a half mile from home that had bass, bream, catfish and big golden shiners in it too.

What kind of camping do you do? Camping with family and friends in a campground, bushcrafting, survivalism? I'm getting back into camping in 2025 or 26 but it's going to be mainly alongside trout streams with a little bit of hiking involved. I'm also studying some bushcrafting and survival techniques in case something bad happens while I'm camping and I can't just call someone on my cellphone.

I grew up fishing little central florida ponds with a cane poll. I eventually grew unto a rod and reel combo. My family fished and scalloped out of Homossassa/Crystal River during my teens and started bass fishing when we moved onto a lake during high school. I didn't fish most of my adult life until moving to Volusia county in my late 40s, and because I love to be frustrated, I fell in love with kayak fishing in Mosquito Lagoon for reds and trout. I have recently taken up fly fishing in Mosquito Lagoon (why not make something difficult even more challenging) and hope to spend my impending retirement (three years) in a mountain location fly fishing for trout.
