I chum if I forget my dramamine before an offshore trip, lol. I don't slow anyone down though and fish through it. Usually a few good heaves and I'm good to go.:emoji_smile:

The best groups are sometimes the inexperienced that tend to listen. The ones that ghink they know are usually the worst. Just keep smiling. Cap gets the snorkle gear and gets their shit off the screws, not me. Hes almost 70.

This has turned into the most interesting and enjoyable AA thread I have read through. No offense to AA, of course. I wish him the best.

Yea, no to do offshore trips, you'd likely need a cap and deckhand to do what I'm talking about. I know a couple of guys who do this though. They just have money and free time. They have a full time cap and deckhand, and they let them run charters to stay on the fish. They go when they want, sometimes as a cap, sometimes as a fisherman, sometimes as a deckhand. They can do a trip with just their friends or family whenever they want, and they usually bring the cap and deckhand when they do. Never charged me for gas, bait, ice, anything to go, just take care of the workers.

I'm mostly inshore. If I'm offshore, it's a charter or someone else's boat.

It is of utmost importance to take all measures possible to avoid having to poop on a fishing charter. Period. For me it was minimal breakfast, no coffee, and getting up early enough to get that morning poop out of the way before hitting the dock

We dont stop till 250' and the cap is the owner. Its just for fun but he does run a few charters. We scamp fish or pull for Wahoo. Floater rigs are 125' miles but we are slow so its an overnighter for tuna. Four guys and they better be well liked by cappy, its alot of time time to be on a boat together.

I get sick every time. If I take dramamine or bodine before the trip I'm good. If I forget, I'll remember about 10 miles out. lol. I get sick even on a cruise that hardly rocks, but only on the first day. If I take my motion sickness meds before I get on the boat, I'll be good for the whole trip unless we're at port somewhere for several days. I went on a grouper trip last year and forgot my meds. First few stops, the rest of the boat got a bunch of laughs. The cap thought it was absolutely hilarious watching me fight fish while heaving over the side. lol

If we're inshore or nearshore, it doesn't bother me at all. If it's a mental thing, I have not figured out how to beat it.

I got sea sickness out of my system by about age 12. Living on the water made it easy to get through that stage at a young age. I can ride through anything now, above or below deck, although I always prefer up top

My 19-year-old used to be the same way. He would puke a timer too and fish right through it. The last couple years he hasn't had to have the Dramamine. Kid can fish his ass off, but he doesn't have any money for gas so it cost me twice the gas bill

I’ve never shat in a 5 gallon bucket. As a kid I did poop over the side a couple times, but it was my boat, a 15 footer, and on back canals where nobody could see. Ahhh the good old days

We all pee over the side and you're welcome to pee in the head, but captain kind of frown on shitting in his bathroom. It's easier to poop in a bucket then hold your ass over the side and 3 foot seas. Probably get all over the side of the boat

No doubt. That’s why priority 1 for me was avoid pooping altogether. Of course that’s hard to do on a 12-hour trip. I haven’t done many of those.

I'm big on mind over matter. I've only really really felt bad on one 48 hour tuna trip when I was a kid. Usually I can fight through it, empty my belly, and I'll be good to go pretty quick. If I just remember to take the meds, I can avoid the whole problem. I don't do a lot of offshore stuff other than cruises and I'm pretty good about remembering to take my meds before a cruise. My wife helps me remember. When I go fishing offshore, I don't always have her to remind me, and I'm usually a bit scatter brained and excited. lol.

We usually pull out by five and come back at dark. If I can get her done before we leave I'm all good for the entire day because I only go once every 24 hours.

I'm not kidding when I say a couple of beers cures that shit. It's all equilibrium. Dramamine makes you wanna sleep, but I can't give my kid beer so he had to take the Dramamine
