House goes batchit crazy on end of year spending

I’m at the point where it’s my health insurance and sanity or continue dealing with people who hate us just for our sector and utterly lack comprehension of a world without regulation.

I’ve seen so, so many Boomers who whine about spending and regulations that helped clean their water, give them safety nets, and prevent major disasters. They got the benefits and now want to rip the carpet out from under the subsequent generations.

“FU. I got mine.”

I mean, what’s the point?

 

How many days a year do they work?

How can they survive on $174,000 a year?

 

they're not slated to get a raise to $243k a year. $243k is what their salary would be if they had gotten the yearly pay raise for the past 15 years. What is in the proposal is to give them a raise this year of 3.8% not give them all the raises they missed.

Just curious what you think it costs to live in the DC area as well as manage their household in whatever state they come from?

 

My parents lived in D.C. until a few years ago making leas than that and did ok. Not against a modest raise after 15 years but not for the results they've been producing. How much more do they make in other benefits.

Also, with 12,000 lobbyists in D.C. and 300 firms I'm sure they are pulling in a lot more than their salary through other bennies

 

Elon is the first US president in history who isn't a natural born American citizen. Given Trump's reluctance to share the limelight my guess is that Elon Musk's defacto presidency will end sooner rather than later. On the other hand considering Trump's susceptibility to bribery and Musk's literally bottomless financial assets maybe the Donald will continue his co-presidency with Musk if the price is high enough.

 

it is time to let the lunatics have a go. The adults worked hard to keep the nut jobs in check 2017-2020, but now people give the nut jobs credit for what the adults held together. Let them shut down the government. Let them do what they say they will. Let them try to deport millions, shut down government programs, etc. Let them crash the economy with tariffs. Until we let them touch the stove they are going to keep doing this.

I’m not a nihilist and I’m afraid for what a shutdown will mean for a lot of families, kids especially. I’m fortunate enough to have a good war chest from my oilfield days, but so many of my colleagues simply do not have that luxury.

It’s absurd that any single billionaire, and worse a foreign one whose family grew fat on apartheid, can destroy a bipartisan deal with such ease.

 

The richest man in the world, who also happens to be foreign born, is massively effecting US politics via his wealth. He also is in negotiations to make a massive donation to the UK reform party. Dude is literally buying control and influence in board daylight and MAGA is fully on board with the new oligarchy overlord. Amazing.

 

It seems the GOP is literally controlled by a billionaire. This is good preview of the incompetence and chaos to come.
