Portal Needs for 2025

from a thread on 247, which then had screenshots from another message board Gator Chatter, a supposed Bull Gator was saying that the money raised to get Billy up out of here was ONLY for that and not for NIL. Once he was given another year, they removed their funds from escrow.

Personally just think we have a slow NIL approach as far as attacking the portal in the first wave. We have 3 years of evidence

 

Exactly…..just a replay of last year where ‘good’ players were disappearing from the portal and people were freaking out. I think we ended up getting what we needed, so prob same thing this year in the end.

 

I think Billy approaches the portal in a way similar to Dabo but not to as extreme of a degree. He wants to take care of his current guys first and then only take guys who will fit the “culture” he’s trying to build and is mostly passing on guys who seem to only be about money and/or guaranteed playing time.

We’ll see if it works out for him, but the lack of any activity thus far is concerning.

 

Its been concerning every year and has had mixed results. This past year the portal haul yielded a number of nice starters. The year before that, the results were, meh.

 

Any news on a DE and DT being offered and/or visiting UF? I saw the UK DT committed to USC. Who else is on the board?

 

Florida is done with receivers until Jeremiah enters the portal on Sunday.

 

You mean after Ryan Day is fired for losing to UT. Smith, Wilson, and Wilson as starting WR group would be something.

Agreed, but we got a couple that turned into good ones before the 2023 season in Jackson and Banks. Now if we can just get Slackman healthy and living up to his billing.

More like grocery shopping at a 7-11. Makes no difference what u want if they ain’t got it. SLACKMAN is an example. Highest rated defensive tackle. He has played very few minutes.
Only ASA TURNER played less..14 minutes, or something like that.

 

I thought Slackman had another year, but I may be wrong.
