CTG said the goal was to take away the UNC 3s. We did that. Davis got his 29 anyway, but those were on some fantastic plays. There's a reason he's an All-American.

We tried to adjust by going over the (illegal) screen, but they called fouls on us when we did. They did a very good job of moving the ball around to force the switch and get the mismatch. Most of the screens that forced the switches were illegal, but I don’t think they got called for it once.

You are correct. I'm an idiot. I was typing 4 but thinking 3. Brain failure after driving to Charlotte and back for the game and getting home around midnight. :)

Just want to give credit where credit is due.

Several weeks ago I commented on our future depends how well Chinyelu plays thru the season. He has played well and exceeded my concerns. First off, he is not getting into foul trouble like many of us worried before the season and only 2 against UNC. Second, he is getting his share of the rebounds and started fast on the boards against UNC, 9 overall. Lastly, Rueben is handling the ball better. Yes he does lose one or two out of bounds in some games but had only 1 turnover against UNC in 22 minutes. Overall, he may not be our go to guy in the paint but he fills the 4 man rotation quite nicely.

Exactly. It was by design. We switched everything last night. Can hardly remember a hedge or drop. Kinda strange because they aren't a very proficient perimeter shooting team, but I guess we thought our size would deter them at the rim. It certainly did in the first, then they started hitting unbelievably tough shots in the second half.

Regardless of defense, high level players like Clayton can still be effective and score. I think he would be the first to say he had an off night.

Such a luxury to play him the first 4 minutes or so. Got the intimidation factor alone. Then bring in Haugh in relief.

Yeah he usually punches right back when a guy like Davis goes off on him. Our guards got frustrated when UNC dialed up the energy. Clayton adjusted and started driving and getting fouled. Next time I hope he'll do it sooner.
