Good point Ant, but we had more talent when Charlie and Greg were here.

AA leaving and Sale finishing his contract, creates opportunities for two coaches to be hired. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

I do not see Sale leaving for lesser money. Could Napier move on and higher a strong OL coach who also recruits at a higher level?

It's not a problem when the head coach knows how to run an organization. But I'd be remiss if I didn't see 2 co-DC's and no OC and think "hmmm".

Seeing AA since CBN started, our defense has been horrific until mid this year. I have no idea when or what role he did this year. Overall, I wasn’t impressed at all and feel this too big a stage for him at his stage of coaching.
What I felt during year 1 is exactly what I feel now. It’s amusing to see many on GC bemoan AA leaving now when most of them were calling for him to go prior to this year because he came from a small conference, etc.
I wanted him to be replaced early on and including after this year and right now. We can do better and not much worse.

Miss State put 480 yards total offense on us. Lol, just hard to fathom.

UF put up over 500 yards in starkville, the next week Texas put up less than 300 vs msu in Austin.....fathom that in your whining about an OC

Yeah, I’m sorry but Miss State is not the measuring stick and the thread is about the defense.

Apparently they are your measuring stick, you brought them up

The point, which often escapes you, is that there are often games that skew stats for varying reasons.

It goes both ways, I remember a thread hailing Armstrong as the greatest hire in the history of hires………

I think at minimum it says we wouldn't give him the assurances he wanted. Taking a half a million dollar pay cut could signify that he was pushed out. Could also signify that he wanted control of the defense and wanted it to be clear to the outside world that it was his defense. Take a step down, bet on himself to show what he can do without someone placed in a tutor role above him. He could have seen this as a better path to get back where he wanted to be. Who knows?

I mean he took a 600k paycut to go to a lesser program. At a minimum it seems to speak to disagreement about his role going forward. Whatever it is, props to keeping it professional and discreet to this point. Hopefully it stays that way

Seems to me It had to be that or he just didn’t like the arrangement with Roberts.
I wonder if we will ever know.

Since it's all speculation, I think it's obvious that CBN wanted to keep Roberts in charge.. Also, CBN didn't need an assistant at 1.3 million. Unlike Spencer and Raymond, CBN had a good relationship with AA and he probably wanted to give him a graceful way out. Just my take on it.
