what is worse is that people will be in fear of saying no. that is not legal and we cannot do it that way.

In the case of the Postal Service not bigger government but a service that the Founders thought that should be provided by the government. See Article II, Section 8 of the Constitution.

From a functional perspective, elements are already privatized in the form of companies we pay for text, videochat, email etc. Snail mail has a greatly diminished function than it once had. Who writes letters any more?

Info I have seen shows the USPS doesn’t lose a whole lot — around $3-4B. It’s a drop in the annual budget bucket. Fringe issues. The big issues are pentagon, social security, and interest. Not a hill to die on.

Absolutely true. It absolutely terrifies me when I consider the potential effects on offshore safety.

I anticipate the negative economic impact would be larger without usps. And a bigger impact on rural communities as they pay more for ups & fedex. also the elderly and poor are more reliant on usps.

and air transportation, and refinery operations.

when you say offshore safety, people need to think Horizon on steroids, horizon doesn't happen if inspector is sayign no and management has his abck.no tests, no drill...

New wells just recently pioneered in the 5k range producing massive yields under untested pressures and operating conditions (heat). Blow it all up indeed.

and it case you didn't know it, djt is responsible for that massive new amount of proven reserves about to hit the balance sheets and the increased production as these start to become more widespread and the tech improved.. fracking isn't going to move the needle on production but these behemouths will. Hopefully they are keeping their backup systems in place and somebody is checking it twice.

what say ye about this move into these ultra high pressure environments...

New drilling technology to put billions of barrels of oil in reach, analysts say | Reuters

HOUSTON, Aug 14 (Reuters) - An oil production breakthrough that producers say can safely tap ultra-high pressure fields could put up to 5 billion barrels of previously inaccessible crude into production, analysts said.
Chevron on Monday disclosed it had pumped first oil from a field at 20,000 pounds per square inch pressures, a third greater than any prior well. Its $5.7 billion Anchor project employs specially designed equipment from NOV (NOV.N), opens new tab, Dril-Quip (DRQ.N), opens new tab and drillships from Transocean

The No. 2 U.S. oil firm began pumping from the first Anchor well on Sunday, with the second already drilled and close to being ready to turn on, said Bruce Niemeyer, head of Americas oil exploration and production.
A 2010 blowout at Gulf of Mexico's Macondo prospect killed 11 workers, fouled fisheries and covered area beaches in oil.
Transocean was the operator of the ill-fated Deepwater Horizon vessel and BP, opens new tab was the owner of the Macondo project. Both are involved in the new, higher pressure well developments.

You’re referring to HPHT wells here. BSEE has regulations in-process, but I don’t know when they’ll be out.

It’s cool technology, but I have concerns. It’s been on my team’s desk for a while. Thankfully, the guy who’s in charge of the whole thing is a 40-year hand with 30 of those in industry. He came to work for the government because of healthcare and boredom.

OT: BOPs… things that DOGE should have nothing to do with and let government regulations work to improve safety.

Hey. Who doesn’t need to pre-oil their shrimp and season them with heavy metals?
