This just burns me. Once a gator always a gator and you go to lsu. This new transfer and nil are killing the game. No one has loyalty.

I wish Jack well and think his was a great story this past year. But I also get that college football is eerily similar to NFL programs now. It's a business and you have to manage your cap or NIL budget. 70% of our NIL this year was toward our Freshman and Sophomore classes. To me, that means we have some up and coming players that have been getting money and that money needs to be on the field. If Jack got paid to stay for one year, would that have meant a younger backup player that we've already invested in would have left for the portal?

 

I have no clue what happened but it feels like his feelings were hurt over NIL- that we were paying someone more than him who didn't give the effort or have the production. Again- just a gut.

Being a former UF athlete- I can relate to having 1 final year and not valuing it for what it is- a few months that you will carry with you the rest of your life- and treasure it like a precious jewel.
When you are young- you feel like you have all the time in the world, and don't understand this time lasts a lifetime.
I didn't either- but thankfully stayed my 5th year and we won SEC titles in my sport. (Cross-country and track.)

How I wish I could talk to this kid. Dollars to donuts he will regret this the rest of his life.

 

One thing that should never make it to the college game is contracts with guaranteed playing time. That can never and should never be a thing in college football.

 

Would consider sending him the bill for his knee surgery and rehab. Ungrateful waste of time.

That describes no one this year at edge for UF. Princely last year, yes. This year, no.

What I see are three stud underclassmen and a super athletic hard charging 5th yr Sr. looking to take his snaps and he didn’t want to compete with that.

 

Interception machine! Off the top of my head I cannot remember another player with that many individual INT's in a single season. 8 INTs in a single season is absurd...

 

I can only assume it's money, I'm not sure where the assumption they don't want to compete against younger up and coming talent keeps coming from. Searcy and Collins were freshamn all-sec players and now they are afraid of competition? This isn't a Florida issue as even Alabama has had 14 players enter the portal but tossing our most talented players aside every year with the excuse that we have better younger guys behind them just seems like fans compensating.
