This is good news in some degree for Florida. It's that either LSU cannot attract big names in the portal and has to pay big money to make it look like they are poaching starters from other SEC teams, or LSU loses money they need to get the big money players in the portal.

I may be in the minority, but I always felt the situation has to REALLY be significantly better to make transferring for one year worth a few more dollars in the long run. Such as, going from a small school to more exposure at a p4 fbs program. In the case of Pyburn he'd have been known as a Gator for the rest of his life no matter what happens to him. Would LSU feel the same about him as a Tiger after only one year?

It simply doesn't translate to me when a transfer plays for one year. Its like going true mercenary and giving up having cfb home because even after all the effort he gave for UF, I cannot view him as a Gator. No offense to the likes of Badger and Dike whom I really appreciated, there's just something about putting in two years or more at a school.

Unless they were trying to seriously short him of his worth I agree. Lifelong Gator fan, recover from injury and become a fan favorite for your performance to close out your junior year and then throw it away for one year at a rival?

In the end, I realize fans will likely never know how it all went down so I try not to join in with the pitchforks but I am guilty of feeling some resentment I just try not to indulge it knowing that....I don't know what happened.

Definitely a head scratcher. They must have reached out with a huge payout. Give up lifetime status as a Gator great when you grew up a Gator fan? Weird.

Did you make any decisions when you were 20 years old that you regret? Any decisions you would change with your current knowledge?

These are kids. Kids do dumb stuff. Kids do even dumber stuff when money is involved. Not even taking into account all the outside pressure these kids deal with.

Trying to make sense of all the movement in and out of the portal (or recruiting in general) will just make your head hurt. Celebrate who we bring in. The ones who leave are gone and they can stay that way.

Pyburn is Gator bait and I got nothing for him.

I hate to see crap like this happen. I wonder if we have other players on the team getting more NIL than they deserve. Pyburn's motor never stops in games, and he effected plays that never made the stats sheet.

Judging just by his on the field, game talent trajectory... I expect Jack to be one of LSU's best players next year.

I'll bet real money that we could have worked out a mutually acceptable deal... And I still don't believe the rumors coming from "X."

We are NOT to blame for him deciding to leave for the money, that is all on him, but it still sucks that we could not work out a deal.

One more thing. NO player should ever expect to get guaranteed playing time. That is a non-starter for teams with integrity.

Lifetime Gator fan? So in his case 6 years? I guess honor, loyalty, respect, and integrity is an unknown concept with the new NIL players. The love of money will destroy this vapid generation. Karma will come soon for its payment.

The simplest explanation is He pissed someone off and was shown the door. I doubt he is happy to be elsewhere.

Thought it was A&M that made the big offer? Maybe it fell through and Pyburn had burned bridges at UF (or felt so) and jumped at the next bidder. L$Us fake southerner coach has done less with more better than any coach around. Will be interested in how his 3rd down stats increase. NIL and the portal have truly destroyed college football as we have known it for the prior 100 years.
