MOM, I agree, nor do any of these names surprise me outside of "Jack". It's a tough business and now with the Transfer Portal, rosters will be shuffling and turning over ever faster.

It's already been posted but it seems "Jacks" camp may have mishandled the negotations with UF and perhaps there was some "intentional" leaking to put Jack's camp in a bit of a "bad" light. Not a good look for either side IMO.

Apparantly Jack's camp is "backtracking" now putting out statements it was more about "PT" and less about money.

I bring this up because many on this site still seem to cling to the notion that the "game" is sill more about love for University, Loyalty, and a heart all Gator. (or some such nonsensical schmaltz).

I harken back to a statement from Nick Saban post retirement: (Not a direct quote): When the Michigan game was over, my returning two deep wanted to know one thing and one thing only: "How much you gonna pay coach"?
Clearly Saban wanted no part of this new paradigm of College Football.

I also listen to voices like Shane Matthews, and numerous others in the field: It's all about the "money honey".

Point being, I have no doubt, handlers are now wanting written guarantee's from schools, not unlike Jack's camp, requiring guarantee's not just about money, but about position, PT, and probably even crap outside the box, such as what offense or defense to run,............. that would make most of us LOL.

I'm not anti player compensation. Coaches were out and out liars for decades to kids, grabbing their big sack on the way out the door to higher paying jobs, all while spinning recruiting lies.

What I am against is the apparant strategy to burn amatuer college football down, re-format it (WITHOUT PORTFOLIO) and let the "market" and the "courts" decide what the "business model" would be on the fly. So here we are.

I still laugh when I think back to the "early" manifestations of NIL.

To remind those that seem to forget, this entire "business" was supposed to
be nothing more than players selling N.(Name) I.(Image) L.(Likeness) to earn a little "pizza money" by selling some Tee Shirts, Hoodies, Apparel, or Autographs.

Interestingly, the consequences of opening, College Football's Pandoras Box, seems to be quite far away from that reality. How anybody really thought this was going to be controlled by some players selling NIL, for a few bucks,
    is beyond me.

It has become like most things in our American life, something perfectly good, being sold to the highest bidders, dressed up with reams of marketing B.S. and fairytales, all the while, the public is being told, you will like it, we know whats best for you, and if you don't like it, we will spin enough lies to make you like it. All the while, the purveyors are counting gigantic stacks of cash, laughing at the gullible public, as they look to purchase their vineyards in Napa.

I don't care what anybody says, College Football is a free agent bidding war with no rules, no authority and no consequences. I've kinda noticed in "American Life" that when these kinds of conditions exist it is not "Nice Guys", pulling the strings, nor will "nice people" be the beneficiaries. I guess it pays to be in the "T-V" business.

What is CBN going to say Monk? Literally he will get crucified for saying anything outside of what he just commented on.
The reality of the situation is akin to what Saban said when he retired - After the loss to Michigan for the trophy, his 2 deep wanted to know how much cash they were going to get, all other considerations being secondary.

The press "leaker" about Jacks demands, IMO, are not "untypical" but "typical" as to what UF, CBN and every other staff in the USA
has to deal with. This stuff is just kept under wraps as much as possible because the propogandists running this show don't want the seamy "underbelly" of what they have created, coming to the surface for the public to see.

IMO, same deal as UF, CBN, and the Jason Rashada situation. The dirty laundry jumps out of the chute sometimes.

All these folks pumping the college football playoffs are doing so because ..... WHY? Because to do anything different will hit their paycheck or employment status. So they talk up the playoffs, NIL, Conference Expansion (or destruction) and all of that, like the playoffs are the greatest thing to
happen to college footbal since it's invention. Outside of Josh Pate, few like to spell out the "costs" to the integrity of the game, to the integrity of the Universities, to Traditions, and to the fan bases.

Yeah, I have zero remorse for coach Saban (all coaches), the universities and fans. The state of college football is 99% NOT the players doing.

$11,000,000 a year Saban bellyaching about players asking about money is insanely ironic. The universities whining about players asking for money is more ironic than Saban’s bellyaching.

The coaches and universities took advantage of the players for over a 100 years. Their greed has come home to roost.

I can't argue with your points Donzo.
Regarding Saban / Bama - IMO they created the perfect "cheat codes" and had the money in place to manipulate the (old) system. NIL, Transfer Portal and Conference Realignment took a giant crap on that party.

Agree again about Universities and Coaches greedily taking advantage of the system.

I have no beef at all with resonable player compensation, a limited playoff, and resonable conference realignment.
Note the word "resonable" which is not being applied to any of these things.

The decision makers decided to destroy the games amatuer status and have gone full lassiez faire for the profiteers.
Us working stiffs have to deal with the fallout and the changes and.......Like It.

Yep, the decision makers have put us in this situation… Well said.

For “reasonable" compensation, that would be great. The issue here is the players have asked for reasonable compensation for a long time. The universities and coaches told them to pound sand. We’ll give you what we want and you’ll like it.

Well, the players took it to court and this is what we got. Now, the players are telling everyone else to pound sand.

Well, Mr. Pyburn is salty. I guess the reports are true.

No, you weren't guaranteed to start next year. There's three underclassmen with 1st round draft pick talent and a 5th Sr. with freak level physical ability hunting to be starters next year, too. No one is entitled to be one of the starters. It would/will have to be earned.

You just can't guarantee someone an automatic starting position for the season. It just dosen't work that way.
