I find it interesting that you qualify which lawbreakers should be dealt with; only the ones who "are here illegally."

Other lawbreakers should be sent to the White House, apparently.

Good to see deep respect for the law, at least.

This is the question. Cost and who bares the responsibility.

Absolutists here believe the law is the law regardless of the cost. Fine. Play the cards and let’s see what happens.

my plan would be as follows:
    1. The government should tag every business owner taxpayer with a baseline. Evaluate all their business labor costs and profits.
    2. execute the “Trupurge” Stephen Miller flights. Lawsuit will happen for 14th amendment. SCOTUS redefines Wong Kim Ark.
    3. Government compare of all job openings at all the companies who freak out. Jail those those who abused America.
    4. Charge back taxes + SS + Med lost to the system.
    5. Implement an e-verify system
    6. Allow companies to use migrant workers under e-verify system with fair labor.

Costs will spike and a new baseline. If it hurts your pocketbook, so be it. You voted for this.

The data is accurate. If you do not like the message you are condemning the message rather than actually trying to rebut the data. Here's similar data from another source.
Share of employed undocumented immigrants by industry U.S. 2017 Statista
By the way that data is from 2017, the percentages are undoubtedly higher now.
Here's another article on the subject:
Five ways undocumented immigrants are powering the American economy
And one looking at a specific industry:
Immigrant Construction Workers in the United States
The construction industry’s high proportion of undocumented workers corresponds to an unusually high amount of misclassification of independent contractors – approximately 1 to 2 million workers, or 10-19 percent of the industry’s entire workforce. As a result, some construction workers do not have access to health insurance, medical leave, workers’ compensation insurance coverage, and safe workplace protections.

MLK Jr. once said, "One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust."

MLK Jr. broke many laws. He's considered a hero. Our own Founding Fathers broke the law when they dumped tea into Boston Harbor. They are now considered patriots. The plight of undocumented immigrants may not compare to our Founding Fathers or those seeking racial justice, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't ask the question, are our current laws regarding immigration just or unjust?

I argue the current immigration laws are unjust. First off, there are about 5 million US citizen children living with an undocumented parent. Splitting up families just to follow the law when the biggest crime a person has committed is a misdemeanor is not just. But that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It's not just for business owners that rely on immigrant labor. And deport 5% of our workforce without an adequate replacement plan already in place, and businesses will be forced to close. This was one of the unintended consequences of Operation Wetback, which is the model Trump wants to use this time around.

Even if a business stays afloat, they will still be negatively effected. So will tax revenues from these businesses. We've already seen this happen on the state level. Back in 2010, states like Alabama enacted their own immigration laws. The economic fallout? It cost the state about $11 billion dollars in GDP.

Mass deportation will also be inflationary. It's simple S/D economics. Lower supply by a greater amount than demand and prices go up. With significant numbers of undocumented workers in important industries such as agriculture and construction, that play a huge role in inflation numbers, can we afford to see significant labor supply drops here? Especially if the effect is a large inflation spike!

So I ask, how is a law that breaks up families, harms US businesses, and causes all of us to pay higher prices a just law?

You said illegals are not eligible for most govt benefits. How the hell are those illegals getting to NYC, staying in NYC hotels, buying food and having their kids go to schools? When you make that argument, you look really foolish.

    azcat that is funny

the law is the law- if you and most other libs do not like the law then get involved and TRY to get it changed

until then we have close to 30 million illegals(if not more) in this country that need to go.

Asylum seekers aren't "illegal." They are legally in this country. Not knowing that makes you look really foolish.

First, they're not illegals. They have pending applications for asylum and can remain in the country legally.

I would also add that I remember when refugees from a certain island governed by an authoritarian Marxist were welcomed to US as heroes and were automatically granted asylum while now refugees from an authoritarian Marxist country in South America are being demonized and are required to prove that they are entitled to asylum. As I stated before if there was still a Soviet Union and Venezuela was its client state Venezuelans fleeing their hone country would probably be welcomed to the US much the way Cubans were for over 50 years rather being demonized.

That the US was taking this many "asylum seekers" is a joke. But, it definitely contributed to Trump winning in Nov. And why are "asylum seekers" allowed all these govt benefits? You can try to call it anything you want, but most of the country doesn't agree with having this many "asylum seekers" in the US as it played out in November.

And the "rule of law" facade falls away. This is anti-immigration, not about the law.

Trump can try and change the law. But the law is anyone who gives himself or herself up to an ICE Agent and requests asylum is a legal asylum seeking petitioner. They are then in the country legally up until their hearing. If their asylum request is denied and they remain in the country, they are then undocumented and breaking the law.

If you think we must blindly follow all immigration laws, then the asylum law is part of it.

Still waiting for an answer as to why following all immigration laws is just and we should just blindly do so. Or, is just blindly following laws just something you do when you agree, and think it's OK to circumvent the law when you disagree, such as in the case of our asylum laws?

By the way, I'm not a fan of our asylum laws either. Especially considering the small number of asylum judges we have, and the fact it can take months, if not years until a case finally goes before a judge. That isn't fair for anyone.

I love how the left wants to follow the asylum laws but not follow the laws pertaining to people illegally crossing into our country. Hilarious to see.

LOL. Lying and you go hand and hand. Keep supporting "asylum seekers" and also supporting people entering our country illegally. Quite funny.

^ Voted for a guy found guilty of committing 34 felonies. :)

And civilly adjudicated to have committed sexual assault.

And has had numerous associates, including the CFO of his business, incarcerated for crimes he was almost guaranteed to have been aware of.
