Yeah, the Zookster never had a losing record at Florida. We've almost been longing for 7-5 and 8-4 for some time now, we really have! We're getting better and better now, we really are!

I don't disagree about the merits of supporting your coach rather than being a constant stream of negativity. There was a time people claimed recruits and players don't visit forums and don't care what we think. That isn't true anymore. Josh Pate commented on the difference in the perception of the Florida program on social media vs the positivity and culture inside the actual program earlier this year. We have seen players and their families with direct interaction in recent years as well, often times very ugly. Perception is reality these days and social media is a constant source of that Perception today.

With that said, there is plenty of room for constructive criticism. I want to be convinced the program is turned around but I thought it was under Mullen until it wasn't. Fans are going to be cautiously optimistic and maybe skewed with a bit of skepticism which in my opinion is understandable. That doesn't mean spam every thread with a negative counterpoint but it also doesn't mean devoid of concern.

If fans were in "full support" of muschamp, maclwein or Mullen would it have changed what they were? It didn't seem to elsewhere. Bringing up the failures of Gator coaches and blaming it on fan support is tired. Zook may have been the only coach that fan negativity truly impacted his ability to succeed here. Not that he didn't make many mistakes but he wasn't given a chance to learn from them.

I reserve my right to be wrong or right and take credit for positive change and shifts that happen after eruptive outbursts through loss. Emotional trauma during the season causes some irrefutable damage and fogs the mirror of accurate expression during the roller coaster of a season. (Hold on, I'm on a roll) Therefore, (after abandoning my meds), and blinded by the toxic effects of 'potentially' another losing season, one can get 'pissy' during the melee that ensues emotionally and being deeply invested in fan-based adversity. This often sends one to post 'used unlucky gear' on Craig's list prematurely.

After 15 years of hope and suffering, the last three games have been like winning the Heisman and a Natty in comparison. Giving Georgia and Tenn scares were noteworthy accomplishments in the macro aggregate of forward-looking hopium.

In summary: The future appears to be looking up...

    Go Gators.:D

I understand the difference but I still believe some coaches would have been able to flip some top players at the end. I didn’t expect it to be on par with saban but there is one player on that list that will provide meaningful minutes next year and that is Shemar James. Billy said when he recruited that class that they were going to be selective and not take players just for numbers. He was only going to take players to help us win. That did not happen. The subsequent classes were ranked #13 and #11 so let’s not act like he is the kingpin of recruiting just yet.

Can you imagine if CBN had a 190lb QB as the lead/and only blocker to a 300lb DT playing fullback running outside from the wildcat on 4th and 1 in the RZ. He would absolutely be tar and feathered in town Square. But Kiffin did that multiple times and he's the flavor of the month. The DT/rb basically had no blockers because the QB was not touching anyone.

Never said he was a king pin. Finding players to help us win isnt the same as 5star players

You gave forgotten our RB1 and the OG from billies old school were both part of class 1, no?

isnt that 2 players that excelled at their position?

our problem was the terrible balance wrt the defensive side of the ball

I was thinking of the same thing during the OM game.

A related question- if we had OM's schedule what is our record...
OOC: They beat Wake, and 3 directional schools. So now we are 4-0.
SEC: Opponents in common: (GA, Miss St, UK, LSU.) They went 2-2, we went 3-1.
SEC: Different opponents: We played TX, Tenn, TAMU and went 0-3.
They played OK, Arky, and USC and went 3-0. It's arguable, but IMO we go 2-1.
Obviously we still play them and win.

So Ole Miss goes 9-3 and almost makes the playoff with their schedule.
If we had their schedule we would have been 10-2 and in the playoff...

    Just wow...

Kirby won an SEC championship in Year 2 at Jawja...He only had 1 rough year and I was hoping it would last. When he went out an signed the #1 recruiting class right after that year, I knew it wouldn't, though.

Yes, we have a nice afterglow from ending the season on a higher-than-recent note. What you want to proclaim is that the view throughout the season was misguided.

How about holding onto this thread and deciding whether Napier has what it takes for this job or all he did was to delay the inevitable. We shall see.

Until further notice, UF is expected to hire a new President, who will then be the person to decide the fate of Stricklin. Napier is still completely tied to Stricklin.

Well said. In the GNFP breakdown, James gave Kiffin an F for managing the clock end of the first half.

Well he looked like a plastic spoon next to JJ Pegues as he sat there wondering why kiffin keep calling the same play that features the QB as the blocker as the sole blocker for his 300LB RB-DT.

Idk - I think in a vacuum you’re right. The problem in Gatorland is for 3 straight staffs - we saw some egregious in and off field decisions… and in real time, smart, passionate Gator fans who continually sold out he stadium, spoke up and so many times a good portion of the fans, media like Cordozzo and Russell and Dooley, and UAA told us “Gator fans are impatient, all kinds of weather, don’t believe what your eyes are telling you” and EACH TIME- they parted ways with the coach when enough was enough. so here we are into year 3- getting blown out and hearing from the SAME group of people “Gator fans are entitled, give it time, patience etc etc
So yeah/ ppl don’t have the patience for a 4-5 year rebuild and to keep smiling while we’re losing.

Play worked all year for ole Miss tho. Credit to Fla defensive coaches for stopping Pegues. If Dart was upset it was due to his poor game performance.

I just went and watched all of jj pegues TDs this year and everyone of them were a fake shotgun snap to Dart who continues to sell it and moves off the opposite direction, while pegues actually recieves the wildcat snap. In each score Pegues had 2 TE's (or big bodies) leading the way. I didn't see one time #2 was used as a blocker of any type. So that would be dumb play calling by kiff in my book, and worse is he didn't fix it.

I don't like losing either, I get it. Let's hope that lessons have been learned all around and there will be less losing next year.

Funny, I have better things to do with my time than rewatch ole Miss games, tho I did watch a few of their games live and Pegues was never stopped. Since Kiffin isn't actually the OC, you can't even be sure that he called the play. Just seems like an odd thing to harp on.

Now the continued 4th down gambles would be fair criticism, since the failures probably cost ole Miss the UF game and therefore the playoffs.

I guess the Kiffin hate runs deep with you tho. Carry on.
