Kyle Trask was recruited by Doug Nussmeier under Jim McElwain. He wasn't Mullen's recruit. Mullens favoritism for other QBs cost Florida the recruitment of Matt Coral. Kyle remained buried on the depth chart behind Emory Jones and Feleipe Franks for years. Mullen pretty much kept his butt on the bench until he had no choice but play him. What Mullen pulled off was keep a great QB off the field! And when it was finally Trask's moment to shine he refused to support him defensively by keeping his buddy Grantham around instead of sending him packing, which ultimately was a major reason for his firing!

Revisionist history, at its best. Do you really think Nussmeier viewed Trask as a surefire starter at Florida? Kyle Trask didn't even start for his high school varsity team. He was a 2-star recruit out of HS (i.e. lots of coaches overlooked him). His best offer aside from us was Fresno State. Feleipe Franks was the 3rd rated quarterback in his high school class. Emory Jones was a 5-star recruit who first landed at Ohio State. Mullen molded Trask and maximized his skill set and got Trask drafted. Without Mullen's tutelage and offensive scheme, there is no way Trask gets drafted in the NFL. Yes, Trask deserves the credit for being a good student, but without Mullen, he would not have put up the numbers he did.

Off base, as usual. They LOVED Trask after seeing him in a camp setting and did their utmost to keep him under radar because they felt he had huge potential in the right offense.....which of course was correct. But blather on, we're all used to it

Oh yes, they LOVED Trask so much, he was not even in McElwain's Top 3 his freshman year.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Jim McElwain hasn't settled on a starting quarterback. He hasn't even pared down the three-man competition.

McElwain said Wednesday that fourth-year junior Luke Del Rio, redshirt freshman Feleipe Franks and graduate transfer Malik Zaire will play this season, maybe even in next week's season opener against No. 11 Michigan.

"You're going to see a bunch of them in there playing," McElwain said. "The three guys have done a really good job. I think there's some things that they all bring to the table that are really good. Now the key to us is putting them in those positions, you know, that play to their strengths.

Unsettled Gators might use 3 QBs vs. Michigan

So you believe that a raw freshman qb with limited experience on day one is not a player they project to have a great future? Yeah, just because a guy isn't inserted immediately into the mix they don't expect big things
I guess that tells us what we need to know about your football expertise.

I'm sure. And his high school coach missed it and apparently Nussmeier was the only coach capable of spotting a talent, because every other program in the P4 overlooked Trask too and then Mcelwain didn't have him in his Top 3 as a freshman... yeah yeah yeah, blah blah blah. Love Kyle Trask and what he did at Florida, but Dan Mullen most definitely had a hand in his development and production. It's as if Mullen has never been known to develop a QB around here. All because if you admit that, then you'd have to admit we fired him and replaced him with someone who's not so good at developing QBs......

What is your point if not to discredit Mullen so as to shield Napier? There is no chance in hell Kyle Trask puts up the type of numbers he did in 2019 and 2020 with Napier calling the plays.

Kyle Trask had the talent and Mullen maximized it. His being recruited by Nussmeier doesn't change any of that. You're simply running interference for Napier. Why? Who the hell knows.

    Reading comprehension issues?
I haven’t mentioned Mullen or Napier at all in any capacity. Do you just babble like this in all aspects of life? It's really odd
You made a comment on Trask recruitment. It was wrong. I pointed out the actual events. How you looped in Napier is a stretch even for your bizarre posting style. Maybe you can drag Deion into this too

His high school coach did not miss it. He even told Nussmeir something to the effect that “Someone is going to get a good QB in Trask: he will win the Heisman and I’ll be known as the dumbest HS coach in Texas”. He had a 5* QB in front of Trask in D’Eriq King who played at a couple of colleges and ended up at Miami, I think.
His HS coach played Trask as much as possible and was proactive in trying to get college coaches to check him out. King was an option type QB and fit his offense better. Pretty sure Nuss was at Manvel HS recruiting King when the coach convinced him to check him out.
I also recall the coach telling Nuss that he told Trask he could start at almost any area high school and would understand if he wanted to transfer, but Trask remained loyal to the coach and school.
I’m using memory and you being the researcher you are you might want to delve into that and correct me if I have misstated some facts. But if the facts don’t fit your negative agenda we will understand if you choose not to report your findings.

At the end of the day, a coach is always going to promote his player, but the fact is Trask's HS coach chose not to start him. So I am not sure why Mullen would catch any flack for not starting Trask right away when his HS coach didn't, he wasn't in Mcelwain's Top 3 and no other school worth mentioning offered him a scholarship. Acting as though Mullen should have seen through all of which nobody else had before him is ridiculous.
