The simple truth is the shitty musical stylings of someone like Katie Noel have been around for a dozen years or so in the devolved underworld world of hick hop, which requires its population to be devoid of any taste or self-awareness for inclusion. The only difference is that she’s a woman, while we’re used to fat white male losers releasing this kind of refuse. Then when a cut of “Southern” landed on Twitter, exposing it to the insulated masses who are repulsed that something like this actually exists on earth, it became like it’s like its own mini phenomenon.

I tried to listen to that album and made it about 2 1/2 songs in. I figure I’m a bit out of touch with modern pop and modern country but just don’t care. Or else it’s just shit. Not sure I can judge any more.
I'm not a fan of TS bc her music is bubble gum pop. ....but her public persona is frankly quite respectable, especially for young ladies. Specifically, she's not into drugs, tats, dressing like a ho bag (or hobo), doesn't sell herself sexually, doesn't promote promiscuity, drug or alcohol abuse, Satan, sin for fun, or any of that sort of thing. She presents a clean cut ladylike image, sings about relationships bt a man and a woman, is family grounded and oriented, is extremely philanthropic, and authentic and humble (in reality, vis a vis her fans)... As far as celebs go--hell, as far as successful ppl go--she's pretty damn exceptionally well grounded, and basically, good ppl. ...whose politics i disagree with. But she's entitled to her political opinion--earned for her as us, by our forebearers--and she's earned her platform to promote things as she sees fit. She could be soooooo much more malevolent with her fame, but she's actually huge net positive. Fwiw.
