Not the same. Every team pays money now.

Not all men can pay money.

Not all 70 year old fat men have little girls for girlfriends., thats money. Top recruiting classes are money too. Without money, neither will happen. The most money gets the top classes. Theres no cap so money rules.

This thread is useless until we get the AD’s name and thoroughly butcher it with creative alternatives.

No. It was a Guardian reporter of all things. Pat Is the one saying it is premature, which was my point.

Rich football coaches all have hot women.

That doesn't translate into a team.

Belichick may spend his money on his girlfriend, but he's expecting UNC to pay him, and spend their money on the team.

$12 million a year will come with lofty expectations obviously. I've always respected the hell out of Bill Belichick. The only part I don't like is his demand that his son be the head coach in waiting, but hey, it's UNC, so it's a chance worth them taking.

Belichick: "I asked my son if he'd like to coach the Tar Heels, and he said, 'Where's that?' He thought I asked if he'd like to coach 'in them thar hills.'"

I don’t think they’re getting fleeced. They volunteered for this. The boosters give even more on the academic side. It’s the way the system has operated since the beginning of time.

It feels like a rerun of Lou Holtz going to the 'Cocks, only for a lot more money.

He'll be the highest paid long snapper in the history of the sport!

College game is so different, yes, maybe he gets another prodigy at qb, difference is he only has them for "2 years" vs 18.
His niche was finding gems and convincing them to play/stay for less money. having a dynamic WR that was slot receiver, and TEs that were incredible.

from: Bill Belichick, Patriots part ways: Here's how legendary New England coach fared without Tom Brady

Belichick was just 47-57 with the Patriots without Brady (.452). He went 219-64 with Brady (.774) during that same span. In the four years post-Brady, the Patriots went 29-38 (.433) with one playoff appearance and zero AFC East titles.

Belichick has just two playoff appearances in the 10 full years without Brady (counting 2008 since Brady was injured in the first game of the year). He has just three winning records and is only 1-2 in the postseason -- with no division titles.

Didn't help Brady won a Super Bowl in his first year post-Belichick. Belichick's record without Brady is actually among the worst head coaching tenures in NFL history.
