The coaches gave that game to Tennessee. A prime example of BN coaching deficiencies. But I'm happy we won the last 3 games.

Hopefully Coach Napier learned from that vol game.

I agree that is a great analytic.....but you have to back out our kicker, punter and longsnapper. All 3 are elite....but for whatever reason they don't get stars like other positions

4everaGator, I gave you a disagree and a negative comment on BN but I'm thrilled with the last 3 wins and the recruiting turnaround. Take my comments with a grain of salt. Have a great Christmas, lets stomp Tulane and keep it going all thru 2025 at least in spirit. All the best. Thank you.

yes and no. What has been happening is that the same teams keep getting top 5 classes. So over time, they have a lot more bites at the superstar elite talents who succeed.

for example, UF has 4 five stars on its roster this season. If we hit on 50% of those, which is the average, two of those players will be major contributors (nfl level talent that gets drafted). Georgia has 20 5 stars on their current roster so if 50% holds for them, they will have 10 of those players be major contributors and nfl level talent/draft picks.

so while a freshman 5 star may not contribute year 1, if you stack that 5 star talent every recruiting class year over year, you will start to have major elite talents contributing every year.

Much of the star system is based on nfl draft potential. Usually there are 32 5 stars to represent those players are mostly likely the 32 first round nfl picks corresponding with their graduating high school class. So, of the thousands of kids entering college that year, they feel those 32 players have the talent and measurables to be the 32 first round picks.

Outside of like 1 or 2 exceptions, punters and kickers and long snappers are never first round picks and thus won’t be graded as 5 stars by the major recruiting agencies.

I was under the impression the star system was based on whether a high school kid was talented enough to start first year of college. 5 star was a yes, 4 was maybe, 3 star take time to develop. It’s reason so few OLine guys are rated 5 stars.

    Food for thought:

If we had an actual OC that had a feel for the game, we would have easily beaten Tennessee in that game.

That's been my gripe with the program for two seasons now..

We will have an OC - not Calloway nor Billy - before next season.

To play the Devil's Advocate: Has the Buzz thread been 100% defeated? The name has changed, quite a bit, but it still remains on the front page. It could very well last well past the bowl game and into the start of next season... Just Sayin'!

Completely. I knew demonstrated ineptitude concealed a master plan for resurrection.

I was stunned by the way this team turned around. Whatever the future holds, I respect the hell out of Napier—and the team—for staying true. They believed in themselves when few others did.

Billy’s classes are underrated. This season has certainly proven that

  14. I am happy to be wrong about the late turnaround, but I will die on the hill with others who doubt Napier can extrapolate a 3-game winning streak through the 2025 season without some changes—the same changes that many of us have been clamoring over for a couple years. The Lagway Effect can only do so much. Napier needs a dedicated OC to unlock Lagway’s full potential and get the Gators a championship caliber offense. We may never know what tweaks happened between Ron Roberts and Austin Armstrong to improve the defensive play calls and overall coaching, but that improvement needs to make an impact earlier in the season. The recruiting improvement from a #51 class in October to a #10/11 class in December is commendable, but Napier (and hopefully an NFL-style GM) need to keep the class in the top 10 and finish near the top 5 in today’s SEC.

Maybe Napier proves people like me wrong one year from now by winning the SEC without a dedicated OC or with Napier magically improving his play calls to become a top-10 OC. Or maybe Napier lucks out next year and the rest of the SEC cannibalizes one another and Florida lands on top. I doubt all those things happen.

You don’t even need to back those out to see how good this class really is. We have a blue chip ratio of 69.5 in this class. The only programs with a higher ratio are Oregon, Texas, and Alabama. That’s it! Every other school ahead of us (UGA, LSU, OSU, etc.) in the rankings is because they have a larger class or are overcompensated for having a couple of 5*. For years people have argued over stars and rankings, but by and large the number one indicator that the roster is talented is Blue Chip Ratio. In that, we are fourth in the country. If you did remove just the kickers, it rises to 76.19. When 3/4’s of your signees are 4* or higher, you’re killing it in recruiting. For comparison our 2010 (widely considered our gold standard) recruiting class under Meyer had 66.66 BCR. It only had four 5* in the class. Anyone dismissing this class as anything less than elite is pushing a narrative that isn’t supported by facts.

I see very few and just because they might have different views or opinions does not make them a troll IMO. Not everyone is confident in BN as HC, that does not make them trolls or any less of a fan. If they are incessant in their complaining they are just whiny but I wouldn't consider them a troll.

I wonder how many new posters have been driven off by the trolls? I can’t imagine the clicks associated with two to three trolls are worth the damage to the GC brand. Just my $.02.

I think anyone that spends time in Too Hot is a troll, lol.

I don't think Okee is a troll, he's not off base on some of his concerns, I think his delivery is the issue, he's a bit of a broken record in that regards and his Sanders obsession is weird. He does get to a lot of posters on here though.
