I know they are a bit of a Cinderella story, but I don't see how the Gamecocks have a case. They lost to Bama and got blown out at home by ole Miss, 2 teams with the same record. The whole season should count not just the last half.

Georgia probably gets in even with a loss in Atlanta. Would be fun to watch them sweat it out tho.

Texas is 11-1, they have to be in win or lose.

Agreed. Hope I didn't imply otherwise. And just to be clear (for others); this isn't a prediction of what the committee will reveal. This is just what it would have looked like with the old (2006) BCS system in place (swap Harris Poll for AP).

One final update (through 12/7 games):

In the old BCS System (assuming conferences would still have merged as they did), we would have been left with a #1 Oregon vs. #2 Georgia

In a 4-team field, the locks are Oregon, Georgia, and Notre Dame. Argue the 4th team, Texas is probably passed up for having failed to beat Georgia on two tries. Penn State is probably out for losing conference championship game. Two of Ohio State, Indiana, and Tennessee are probably going to be pretty upset.

Probably the only thing truly interesting is how close Alabama and SMU are as the #11 and #12 teams in the BCS:

    #11 Alabama, .541 AP, .555 Coaches, .63 Computer
    #12 SMU, .540 AP, .549 Coaches, .60 Computer
(South Carolina, Miami, Ole Miss were all more significantly lower)

    #1 Oregon (1.000: AP 1.00, Coaches 1.00, Computer 1.00)
    #2 Georgia (.950: AP .951, Coaches .949, Computer .95)
    #3 Notre Dame (.904: AP .902, Coaches .899, Computer .91)
    #4 Texas (.862: AP .875, Coaches .873, Computer .84)
    #5 Ohio State (.811: AP .795, Coaches .768, Computer .87)
    #6 Penn State (.797: AP .812, Coaches .800, Computer .78)
    #7 Tennessee (.717: AP .790, Coaches .792, Computer .57)
    #8 Indiana (.688: AP .679, Coaches .685, Computer .70)
    #9 Boise State (.658: AP .715, Coaches .688, Computer .57)
    #10 Arizona State (.627: AP .646, Coaches .634, Computer .60)
    #11 Alabama (.575: AP .541, Coaches .555, Computer .63)
    #12 SMU (.563: AP .540, Coaches .549, Computer .60)
    #13 Clemson (.512: AP .534, Coaches .524, Computer .48)
    #14 South Carolina (.507: AP .497, Coaches .495, Computer .53)
    #15 Miami (.454: AP .450, Coaches .453, Computer .46)
    #16 Ole Miss (.439: AP .439, Coaches .467, Computer .41)

Using bracket straight up we'd have the same top 4 seeds with #1 Oregon, #2 Georgia, #3 Boise State, and #4 Arizona State, and Clemson would also be the #12 seed.

The pairings for the first round would have looked like this (different team or seed in bold):

#12 Clemson @ #5 Notre Dame (winner vs. Arizona State)
#11 Alabama @ #6 Texas (winner vs. Boise State)
#10 Indiana @ #7 Ohio State (winner vs. Georgia)
#9 Tennessee @ #8 Penn State (winner vs. Oregon)

Just use the bcs 1 through 12 ranking as is. No re-shuffling based on conference champions bs.
