I’d be fine with that too! Would LOVE to see IU make a shocking run.

Back when conference prowess was a thing and my friends/associates were Seminole fans, I would root for the SEC all day. Now I get where you’re coming from and I will root for the field over UGA or UTk

Yep, playing a tough schedule did not get rewarded.

Moving forward, I hope UF schedules cupcakes for every out of conference game.

I thought that the power 4 conference winners were seeds 1 - 4?

It’s the 4 highest (CFP) ranked conference champions, fwiw.

    * correction: The CFP committee ranks the teams 1-25. The 4 byes go to the 4 highest ranked conference champions.

Penn St has 1 win against a ranked team (Illinois) and is ranked 4 overall? I'm betting the BIG 10 is going to be exposed.

Going forward, I'm hopeful that winning the conference championship still gets you in the playoffs but no automatic top 4 seed and first round bye. There are no automatic top seeds in basketball or baseball for winning your conference.

For being the top seed Oregon didn't exactly get an easy draw. Georgias path looks far easier, tho at some point their luck hopefully runs out ( winning in overtime, fumbling 4 times recovering all of them and those timely penalties that the opponents get).

My suspicions about the fix being in before the conference championship games were played seems to have been right.

The CFP committee set it up the previous week by ranking SMU too high at #8. They go and lose (as Joey Galloway kept saying on the show) to a very average 3 loss Clemson team in the ACCCG. Then today said committee only drops them 2 spots to #10, one ahead of Bama. The committee thought so much of SMU, they only moved Clemson up one spot from 17 to 16, for beating them and winning the mighty ACC. It makes no sense. UNLV lost to the same team (Boise State) yesterday for the second time this season, and dropped 4 spots in the rankings.

Bama made it possible losing to Vandy and Oklahoma. They have no one to blame but themself. Sure I think they are better than SMU but MIami probably is as well as some others.

But this is lame. I don't care what we personally think of these teams, this would be far more entertaining if Bama and UM were in it instead of Boise St and ASU.

At the very least, go to 16 teams and let 8 teams play road games. Dan Patrick was talking about how we might see Bama at ND. I hate both, but would love to watch that game.

I beg to differ on one aspect: Bama can blame SMU. Yes, they should have gotten themselves there without any help, but if the Mustangs had won yesterday, Clemson would be out and the Tide would be in . . . which would have made room for the Gators in the ReliaQuest Bowl against the Wolverines. So I'm bitter towards SMU right now.

They got several things wrong, imho, one being going with 12 teams and 4 teams getting a bye. They left 4 big $$$ games on the table. Do away with the byes, it backfired anyway, they didn’t anticipate teams like Boise State & Arizona State getting them. Go with 16, make everyone play in round one, it won’t add any more time to the length of the playoff. Seed everyone 1-16 by their ranking and it’s 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc-etc. I might even consider reseeding after round one. The object of the payoffs should be to get the best teams matched up against each other. Reseeding would likely prevent another TCU vs Georgia title game.

This has to change too, just not right. These are playoff games, not regular season scheduled games. Maybe set the visiting team allotment at 10%.

Teams who made the CFP playoff are happy, but guess what? Eleven of the twelve teams who made the playoff are going to end their season with a loss.

Some teams who didn’t make the playoff are ticked off, but guess what? Some of them are going to end the season with a win.

These are good points . . . but do they want to add a "cinderella" component like March Madness? I've never understood why Sankey gave away all the SEC power for this play-off format. So you win a pathetic conference where almost any 3 loss SEC team would have gone undefeated or maybe a single upset loss. Just not comparing apples to apples and rewarding being in a weak conference.

They had to give some benefit to conference championship games . . . so you can "win" a bye, I guess.

As far as tickets, part of being ranked higher, I guess. I don't care since UcheaT would have done exactly the same had the roles been swapped. I think they should have to drive to Columbus to the ticket window to get one of the 3,500. LOL! :)

That's just rigged... But never underestimate bowl-cut's ability to screw things up. He might lose to anyone on any given game day. They beat Kentucky by 1 point, 13-12. Georgia Tech took them to 8 overtimes. And they lost to Ole Miss...

I still think we beat that team with a healthy Lagway. And now they might have to play these playoff games with Stockton, an unproven QB?
