Guz Malzahn…to FSU…as their Offensive Coordinator

Guys forced into these positions (Sark, Kiffin), I could see still having some fire and the desire to compete at the highest level, but realizing they need to work back to the top.

Guys willingly giving up their jobs at the top to step down and take lesser positions…that seems more like a guy who’s lost their fire and given up to me. Lots of guys in lots of careers do stuff like this when they get close to retirement. While they can still be of some benefit, it’s not the type of guy I’d throw the bank at and put in charge of one of the most important parts of the team. We’ve got a room in the back somewhere for that guy. JMO.

 

Didn’t say he did anything wrong. Just that part of me wonders if there’s more to it on the account he cost himself millions by leaving. Maybe he’s being promised the FsU job after the eventually get rid of Norvell. Who knows? Just speculating. Hardly dragging his name through the mud.

 

All the other SEC schools who play a tough schedule and somehow end up way ahead of us in just about every offensive metric must have the refs on their payrolls.

 

I’ll respect the rules of no politics on this site. My brother and sister in law went to Auburn and are rabid fans, rabid. They liked Gus but he apparently wasn’t the best recruiter around. I think CBN is a very good recruiter of talent; it might not be long before he is in the Texas, Bama, Ga echelon. Just have to win more games as a precursor. I like where we are - we are on the way up after being near the bottom. It’s not a journey for the impatient.

I will also say it’s become obvious that there are two major “takes” right now on IF football.
1. Excitement that we finally look like a decent team.
2. Acknowledgment that we lots of room for improvement.

These two takes can live harmoniously and really should as long as each of us don’t get bogged down in the minutia of tribalism ( I’m right your wrong etc..)
All of us are going to swing a little more to one side or the other.. and that’s fine.
My guess is we all are excited to some degree and we all realize that there is still room for improvement. Some of the arguing and bitter retorts seem to be from an inability to meet in the middle.. which is a shame.

 

It should be interesting to see if Malzahn will be content to work for another guy who sucks more than he did
