I googled the question, "which college has the most NIL money?", and found this story.
I was actually surprised and pleased to see where we land because it's not what we've been grumbling about.
Oregon, as I've been hearing, is at the top. However, that's largely because of Nike founder Phil Knight. He's determined to buy Oregon national championships, but he's also 86 years old.

FWIW, I hate the whole NIL situation because it quickly spiraled out of control. But it's the reality of what we live with now.

That number comprises a lot of donations, not NIL.

    And of course:

OSU has the most pompous sounding collective name.

    FSU has the dumbest

All of these organizations are private and not required to disclose their financial statements. This article is basically hearsay. There is zero chance FSU is higher than the oil money of aTm or the football obsessed Bama donors. If or when these organizations are required to disclose, I’ll then give credence.

Biggest tool in online media today. Does he really think as an FSU grad that he is capable of keeping an accurate list? :emoji_joy:

It’s also not required to be funneled through one of these organizations. If you have the means, you’re welcome to cut deals on your own outside of any type of collective. Most schools likely encourage athletes to report their earnings to them (UF will help you work through the tax stuff if you do), but most states do not require it. No single entity has all the numbers, and I’d be surprised if anyone claiming publicly that they do is even remotely close.

I don’t know that they ever will, and don’t really think it’s anyone else’s business. If salaries become a thing, those numbers may become public because the institutions may release them. I can’t think of any reason why any of these guys should ever be required to publicly release their NIL financials though. I don’t have to tell the world how I make my money and who gives it to me, just the IRS.

I know it’s frustrating. People want transparency, and think they’re entitled to this info, especially those donating to the cause.

I’m more frustrated with the websites selling people bogus info that they know is bogus.

I avoid Danny K as much as possible, but he actually had a few good words for Napier recently. I almost fainted........lol.
I was just about to hit the "click / turn channel button" and he started a little positive speal about coach, so I watched. I should have recorded it.

He did put caps on his name's initials for the hashtag so he'd know it was HIS hashtag.

Perhaps, we'll get transparency in the next year or two when they're paid employees. Hopefully, UF will allocate the revenues to each sport proportionate to how much revenue that sport generated.

I don’t think that will curb the third party deals, and don’t see those ever becoming very transparent. Salaries may become public, but not the NIL deals.

This list is almost a rankings list combining football and basketball - guess you get what you pay for.

It would be interesting to see what % of booster money goes to NIL, and what portion of NIL is from actual NIL - players selling their name, image and likeness. It seems like there’s a hell of a lot more money going to the athletic department by boosters than the players are making (by multiples). PLUS all the TV and gate revenue the athletic department gets.

I’m sure all that data is unavailable and that’s the point. Even as we talk about how much money goes to the players, it seems like a tiny fraction in big name schools to the amount that goes to the UAA, or middle men of some nature.
