This is one of the dumbest statements ever posted in the forum. Where do you get your information?

we began following the earths temp around 1880 - we have no idea if the slight increase in the earth's temp is anything to worry about- all the prognostications in the last 50 years have been about the melting polar ice cap(which has not happened) the rising sea level(which has not happened) and everything else is nothing more than a theory. I am always amazed at the left and how they crow about how educated they are and how uneducated the red states are cannot seem to come to grips with it ain't happening. Knock yourself out, it won't change a thing.

It's truly impressive how completely wrong and totally misinformed you are on this subject.

Ice volume by year. Please explain how this isn't decreasing.

Sea level readings. Please explain how this shows that the sea level isn't rising.

Indonesia is moving its capital, Jakarta, Java to another location on Borneo Island, called Nusantara. It's hard to tell if the move is more because of elevation (parts of the city are at the beach, and parts are at 26' elevation) or because of subsidence (the city is sinking under its own weight, similar to New Orleans and southern Louisiana), or because of overcrowding. Jakarta will still be used as a city after the government moves.

The first city in the U.S. to fall to GW will probably be St. Augustine, Florida.

The only problem is that we are not in a glacially-slow-changing warming trend in terms of natural trends that take thousands of years to develop. We are in a microwave, and it's turned on "high".

pretty much everything you say is wrong. I’m not sure how that is possible.

It seems to make such assertions one would have to either be a liar or an absolute idiot.

I typically steer clear of these args. But - &, this is not on you - why would the earth need to be heating up or cooling down for man made global warming to be a thing? For the last 15 years, 1 of my best friends is a world renowned climate scientist. We've travelled the world together, gotten drunk, skied (he boards), etc. We've talked global warming for maybe 5 mins. I asked him about it once & he said, we know carbon dioxide holds heat in the atmosphere.

pretty sure you can go to YouTube & find simple home experiments that you can conduct to demonstrate this. I've no clue why either "side" of this debate relies on data, or the world heating up or cooling down nonsense, when the science is a slam dunk. gittin shot in the face hurts....well, maybe. We gotta git us a big ole dataset 'for we can be sure.

We have scientific evidence of what the average temperature of the planet was thousands of years ago, tens of thousands of years ago, hundreds of thousands of years ago, millions of years ago, tens of millions of years ago, and hundreds of millions of years ago. Our understanding of the planet's climate did not start in 1880.

Here's How Scientists Reconstruct Earth's Past Climates

The world has been warming faster than expected, and scientists think they know why. Low altitude clouds are not forming over the oceans because the surface temperature of the oceans has gotten too hot.

This is really interesting. It was always clear that we don’t fully understand all the factors that underlie Earth’s climate. This knowledge gap has led some to hypothesize that additional clouds would come to our rescue lessening the amount of predicted warming in a case of negative feedback. However, this analysis alarmingly suggests that it might be the opposite case, where the clouds disappear in the face of warming, leading us toward a vicious positive feedback loop of warming. Let’s hope this isn’t the case in the long term.

Speaking of oceans, this is positively terrifying.

Probability Estimates of a 21st Century AMOC Collapse

The AMOC is key to “cooling” South America and keeping Northern Europe from being a frozen hellscape.

…but sure. Keep rolling your coal and barreling towards disaster.

You do know that all of the things that you say have not happened are actually in the process of happening, don't you? The polar ice caps ARE melting, the sea levels ARE rising, and other things are happening. That's why flooding is becoming more common in Miami, and other places, and countries like Russia are talking about drilling for oil in the Arctic, which was previously impractical.

Do you also wait for your car to run out of gas before you refill the tank? Do you wait before the last flames on your burning house to go out before you call the fire department? Do you wait for your children to stop breathing before you call for medical assistance?

Don't be absurd. Gas was not banned for two reasons:

    1) At the time global warming was first postulated, everyone recognized that it needed further scientific study. Many studies have been done, and all of the qualified ones (not sponsored by Exxon) have concluded that GW is real.

    2) Gas could not be banned outright because the global economy was dependent on it. And it still is. That does not mean we can't take steps to reduce that dependency. And the wealthier countries are taking steps. Those steps are too little, too late. Too many people drive gas guzzlers and air condition the neighborhood. There is not a sufficient financial penalty for wasting fuel to correct people's driving habits or choice of vehicle.

No melting of the polar ice caps? The Arctic could theoretically have its first ice-free day in 2027, according to scientists. Most scientists have the likely first ice-free day in 2032-2043. Either way, it's coming.
