Not just the minors being manipulated-- it's the @#$^n end around parents, to get to that point.

Here we're finally taking a turn towards holding parents accountable for collasal failures (eg--Michigan parents convicted of crimes committed by their psycho shooter kid)--a positive step in the right direction--then, at the same time (albeit different state)--undermining parents' authority, blurred and drowned out under an avalanche of psycho babble.

Babble on...at the end of the day, no matter what shade of lipstock you put on this pig, or what you wrap this crap in--it's still a pig/crap. This is just a blatant libby attempt to establish precedent to create separation between parent and child. Through and by, the State.

    Disturbing as hell.

Voltaire is quoted “Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities”

I believe that this is a mental issue; and, we are being coerced under the guise of caring to believe in absurdities - atrocities then follow.

Welcome to being on the wrong side of an argument with someone on the far left. It does not matter if you have a good faith argument against their position. As long as you are against their position, you are clearly an -ist or -phobe and your good faith argument is therefor null and void.

Does the continued use have permanent effects or is it only while in use?

All very true, but if we get into this argument we'll end up pissing off everyone. Because, we can do this forever, just completely empower the narcs of the world to criticize and bitch and actually have a legal outlet for all the stuff their neighbor does that they don't like. We could have a USSC decision on whether or not it's child abuse to let your kids play in the yard without an adult present. Hurray!!!

I'm sure the busybodies' and ninnies' mouths water over this kind of stuff.

Bro, I'm going to have to see some numbers to back that up. Just not seeing enough trans people to justify it being a multi-billion dollar "industry". Now, someone brought up plastic surgery on minors. . . . Hmm. Am seeing a lot of that and, IMO, that's pretty screwed up too.

Yep, you are. Unfortunately, you're on the side hurtling towards carrying out atrocities. It wasn't that long ago that most people believed being gay was a mental issue. And that plus bigotry unfortunately led to atrocities.
Puberty blockers for transgender and gender-diverse youth
GnRH analogues don't cause permanent physical changes. Instead, they pause puberty. That offers a chance to explore gender identity. It also gives youth and their families time to plan for the psychological, medical, developmental, social and legal issues that may lie ahead..

When a person stops taking GnRH analogues, puberty starts again.

It can have side effects that impact bone density, though.

Yes, because those on the far right are so open to new ideas and easily change their minds to fit the facts on the ground. . . Seriously, man. Did you write this? Replace "left" with "right" and you just described Okeechobee, 92Gator, etc. to a tee.

It all comes down to science, which I think is being left out of the conversation.

Medicine needs to get back to science. I dont know how many times people seek treatment for things that are not medical related, its mental or diet related. "I feel bad and have a cough" and the Dr. or APRN gives them antibiotics without testing.

Same applies here for Trans. What basis are we making these decisions other than "feelings?" If a child has this much of an issue before the age of puberty, then there are either genetic, enviromental or mental health issues going on here. If there is no medical reason to have the surgery, then it shouldnt be done. We have a shortage of doctors, quit wasting their time with non-life threatening medical procedures.

Last time I checked, any time I have disagree with them, I have not been called something that could traditionally get someone fired if turned into HR for it. I'm open to hearing what you think those posters would call their opponents that would have a social stigma attached to it, though.

Additionally, the posters you mention above are not operatives within the Republican establishment. I'm pretty sure the person Trickster is responding to is if not employed by the Democratic establishment, volunteers for it.

Full stop. Before anything else occurs, we're about to have a fully detailed conversation about what my child thinks this means and what they have learned about it. I would love to hear(or read if anybody has a link) the convincing argument that an 8-year old has to present and see how that compares to general misperceptions/misconceptions they may have about life. Everybody always skips over this part when it comes to the a public discussion on the topic.

I have, multiple times. "Commie". "Lib" "Groomer" (on threads related to these). See these all the time from the pinheads. In fact, their posts are always loaded with dumb generalizations and insults. If anything, GL is just more professional in his attempts to marginalize his opponent.

Fair enough but last time I checked, none of those terms are accusing you of wanting to discriminate against a federally protected class of people, which could get you fired from your job.

Does it really matter? They try to play the race game as much as D's. Come on man, you know better than this. The people you mentioned are basically drunks at a tailgate with respect to their engagement on issues.

P.S. "Groomer" is basically . . . No, actually calling someone a pedophile. I'll take "racist" or "homophobe" over that every day and Sunday too.

    1. There is ample evidence that gender-affirming care works and without it, people (including children) die. Here is a good starting place:
What does the scholarly research say about the effect of gender transition on transgender well-being? | What We Know
    2. How about we let the doctors decide what is and isn't a waste of their time? The doctors who don't want to be involved in gender-affirming care don't have to be.
Transgender children and young people: how the evidence can point the way forward - PMC.
One can conclude from the evidence that gender dysphoria is a relatively rare but well-defined condition, characterised by a strong desire to be of the gender opposite to that assigned at birth and by an insistence that one is, indeed, of the other gender. Affected transgender individuals are usually aware of its existence by the age of 5 years. Gender dysphoria needs to be distinguished from gender-atypical behaviour, where those assigned male gender at birth showed an interest in activities generally preferred by girls and vice versa. Marked gender-atypical behaviour occurs in around 2–3% of the population, most of whom are not transgender. Further, many children who show gender dysphoria before puberty do not continue to do so during and after pubertal changes occur. However, if gender dysphoria does persist into adolescence, its intensity tends to increase at this time.

Steps for supporting your child's gender identity
Children who are transgender have a gender identity that doesn't match their assigned sex at birth. In many cases, children will say how they feel. They may strongly identify as boys or girls. And sometimes they identify as neither or not fully male or female (nonbinary).

Most children go through periods of gender exploration through the way they dress and the toys they choose and by role-playing. Some may even insist that they are a gender that differs from that of their birth sex. However, this is likely not a phase if they continue to do so as they get older.

Most children between ages 18 and 24 months can recognize and label gender groups. They may identify others as girls, women or feminine. Or they may label others as boys, men or masculine. Most also label their own gender by the time they reach age 3.

However, society tends to have a narrow view of gender. As a result, some children learn to behave in ways that may not reflect their gender identity. At age 5 or 6, most children are rigid about gender and preferences. These feelings tend to become more flexible with age.
    --------------------------------------------------
The point here is children may know they're transgender at a young age, but no, you don't need to rush it. You don't need to assume if they ever express uncertainty about gender, act in a way that is incongruent with their sex at birth, and even express once or twice that their gender is different from their sex that they're necessarily transgender. These things play out over longer time horizons, and there are good reasons why children who may have gender dysphoria typically spend a lot of time with mental health practitioners and start with social transition before more significant medical interventions happen.

There's a very, VERY long road someone must travel before receiving gender reassignment surgery. Before anyone operates, the surgical team is going to consult the patient to make sure everyone understands the reasons, thought processes, ramifications, etc. of the surgery. There may also be requirements for the patient to talk to those who have already undergone the the procedure and/or have regular sessions with a licensed therapist if the surgical team has any doubts. Often times, it is years before a person gets surgery.

What the Tennessee law does is prevent any of this prep work for anyone under 18. This would include gender affirmative psychological care and puberty blockers, among other gender affirming treatment that happens a long time before any thought of surgery ever happens. And this is problematic. There are some kids out there that just know they are wrong gender before puberty, and they need at minimum, therapy that is gender reassuring. Every case is unique, but just like you can't simply pray the gay away for some, there are some transgendered that will never just switch on a light bulb and think it was all just a fun gag. Deny these kids gender affirming therapy and as the above links show, the outcomes include increased suicide, drug use, and other criminal activity.

The decision on how to care for a child with gender dysmorphia should be between the kid, his/her parents, and the medical professionals treating the child, which absolutely should include mental health professionals. The child isn't mentally ill, but being a transgender in this world comes with a bunch of hatred, bigotry, and people who just don't understand, and mental health professionals can help the child be more comfortable in his/own body and deal with the hatred. The mental health professional can also help figure out if the gender dysmorphia is legitimate, or just a phase the child is going through to get attention. Rare, but the latter does happen in some cases.

Regardless, the state shouldn't be able to tell parents, medical professionals, and kids with gender dysmorphia how to best proceed to ensure the child is happy, healthy, and well adjusted. Again, every case is unique, and forbidding gender affirmation care is going to lead to kids who will have unhealthy outcomes because of the state.
