Not sure where you were going there but I listened to the OA tonight and the parental rights issue was not part of the case that was argued today. That will have to be addressed in other cases.

There are too many "sickos" loose in this world, and many of them are greedy Lawyers and doctors... ones that make millions mutilating children. This is happening because it's a multibillion dollar scam.

And we're talking billions of dollars, because the value of wrecking someone's life that young in age is going to be astronomical. It will be interesting to see what big pharma and their accomplices contingency plan is when the house of cards begins caving in.

With RFK Jr and the Trump DOJ, I feel very confident they will put a permanent national ban on this in minors, which is why this SCOTUS ruling will be like a nail in the coffins of the perpetrators. There will be some lengthy sentences handed out. Examples will be made out of certain figures.

Minors... that is the part that makes this so sick. Most Americans do NOT care what a full-grown adult does to themselves, but minors are being manipulated, and that IS THE CRIME...

Child: I'm trans, and I want this healthcare.
Psychologist: After working with this child for a long period of time, it's clear that this treatment will improve their quality of life, they want it, and they understand the consequences.
Physicians: We've spoken with the child about their options. We've not spoken with the parents because the child says they don't understand. We feel that based on this individual child's circumstances and needs and our understanding of the best practices and medical evidence that this is the best treatment for them despite the fact their parents would not approve and don't even know about it.
    Parent Garor_Lawyer: What the hell?

As a surgeon this all seems like a joke. I dont do gender reaffirming surgery I do joint replacements/trauma but the lawyers here arguing seem ignorant.

Just want to get this straight, your only objection to gender-affirming care is physicians cutting the parents out of the process? So if physicians were not allowed to provide care to their child patients without the consent of a parent, you'd be perfectly fine with it?
Hey, maybe we are. Feel free to enlighten us about the intricacies of gender-affirming care.

Mark twain must have observed something about folks whose opinion is always predictable. I'm sure it wasn't flattering.

I don’t think physicians should play god to make money. I don’t care what age they are. Gender dysphoria is a mental issue. We used to do lobotomies for mental issues and what do we think about that now

As somebody who has multiple friends who are transgender, I am sure my opinion is predictable. I believe in freedom and equality. I don't support the government othering vulnerable populations and denying them equal citizenship. So what you mean as an insult, I take as a compliment. I will not abandon my friends or the struggle for equality.

Your personal disagreement with gender-affirming care is not an answer. You accused me of being ignorant about it. I am asking you to explain the intricacies of gender-affirming care. I'd love to learn more.

It’s not that complicated. Surgery is not a treatment for mental conditions. Regardless

When minors come in and “need” surgery the kid doesn’t even sign the consent form, the parents do. So why should kids be able to decide they need life altering surgery

    1. You're focused on surgeries. But gender-reassignment surgeries (bottom surgeries) are almost never performed on people under the age of 18. The WPATH guidelines recommend that the patient be 18 years or older. Top surgeries (ex. breast reduction) are available to teenagers, but that's also true for cisgender minors.
    2. Who said anything about excluding the parents from the process?

You present as if those who disagree with you are against equality in general and transgender in particular. Nothing could be further from the truth in my case.

What I am against is a youngster undergoing irreversible transgender procedures, whatever those might entail. If a youth wants to use he rather than she, or present as gender fluid, like my 16 year old grandson is currently doing, no problemo. I just want him happy. If he wants to start exploring more drastic steps, fine, as long as it's just information gathering. But if he wants to undergo an irreversible sex change before 18, hell no, and the state should prevent it.

As for the opinions of parents, doctors and psychologists, I was in the legal system for 40 years and know (a) many parents are irresponsible, and (b) that one can find a professional who will testify to about almost anything for a fat fee.

What's the rush, anyway!? My grandson can wait until he's 18 to be sure about what he wants to do, and I'll support him 100% whatever he decides.

This is a thread about the law before the Supreme Court. That law is discriminatory.
Thing is, I don't disagree that patients should wait until they're 18 for gender-reassignment surgery. That's also what the WPATH Guidelines recommend. This law isn't just about surgeries. It's much broader than that. It prohibits lesser interventions. Transgender minors cannot access pharmaceuticals that cisgender minors can access. That is one of the reasons a judge appointed by Donald Trump struck the law down!

    Direct quote from that opinion:
"Consider the following example involving a hypothetical minor who is diagnosed with precocious puberty at the age of eight years old (meaning that the minor has started puberty at eight years of age). The minor’s parents agree with a doctor to place the minor on puberty blockers to delay puberty until the proper age. Under SB1, this treatment would be permissible. A few years pass by, and the minor realizes that he is in fact a transgender boy, and he exhibits symptoms of gender dysphoria. Around this time is when he would also stop receiving puberty blockers for precocious puberty. The minor and his parents make an appointment with a doctor who treats gender dysphoria. The doctor decides that the proper treatment for the minor’s gender dysphoria for his age is the use of puberty blockers. Under SB1, although the minor was lawfully on puberty blockers for several years to treat precocious puberty and is slated to come off of them for this treatment, SB1 would not allow him to continue to take the exact same drugs for treatment of his gender dysphoria."

Does that sound like equality to you, Trickster? It doesn't to me.

The point--the child gets to speak for the parents ("...mom n dad wouldn't understand..."), instead of the parents, speaking for *THEIR* own @#$%&n child(ren).

That's some libby ass bullshit right there.
