Imagine paying 2million for a Steve Shipp or Bobby Sablehaus. I'm sure it's not all guaranteed money but still, you get the point. I'd like a 5 stat receiver to stagger the talent in the classes but as you said, the portal is loaded with receiver talent.

For those tracking, I have all commits in except (DL) McCloud and a waiting to see flip (TE) Gelsey. Decisions waiting for today are (S) Hayward and (OL) Thomas. (CB) Konanberry is delaying.

 

ESD and NSD don't have the impact the impact they used to, the latter to a greater degree, because of the portal. Every avenue to bring in players is important, but the advantage of the portal is that you can certainly get a more proven commodity. It seems the staff has a good plan to get talent, keep the roster balanced, and fulfill our needs. I think they had a good plan last year but the late defections caused us to scramble a bit. Really happy its not a repeat of last year and we were actually able to add some good players to our class. Also looking forward to the fall and spring portal periods this year too.

 

The staff has done an incredible job with WRs from the portal.

 

Getting two good WRs from portal shouldn’t be difficult, two good DTs from portal will be tough.

 

I just double checked to see the UF site has him at 384 lbs. Most other sites had him around 360. Once football ends its hard for these kids to keep working the weight off. Plus the info out there says he is a summer enrollee. We will have to see what he checks in at this summer.
EDIT: I recall he also plays basketball. Got to hope that keeps the weight down and probably why he is enrolling this summer.

 

These deals are pretty well guaranteed unless they move somewhere else. They aren’t really allowed to be based on anything normal performance based contracts are based upon.

 

This kid looks pretty jacked, like a gym rat. He’s huge, but he doesn’t have a des type body. I think/hope he’ll be okay on that front.

 

Shivers strikes as being a more athletic version of Dez, which should be a much higher ceiling than Dez could achieve. Maybe can get his weight down to 340-ish and will still have the mass to plug the middle and agility to get after the QB

A note on Dallas. Yesterday, Gator coaches were told it's a go. Information leaked early in the evening and Oregon began damage control. Also his Mom wanted him with the Ducks before she passed away. Still, it doesn't feel good that information leaks from our side helped lose this flip. This is why even insiders don't tell paid subscribers.
