We get it, you're not a fan of Napier.

That doesn't mean we need to look at everything regarding this program through a negative lens. The fact is you need to make an effort to be pessimistic about this team now compared to where we were to start the season. That goes for on-field results, eye test, recruiting, you name it.

Nobody's saying Billy has us at a Gator standard right now. But maybe given the improvement we've seen, we should give him a chance considering no coach has met that standard in 15 years, it would cost a left nut to fire him, and there is no heir apparent waiting in the wings that is a sure fire thing. Everyone, including me, seemed to think Kiffin was the closest thing to that and Billy BEAT a very solid Kiffin team this year.

 

Dude, I’m not convinced that Billy is the answer yet either. But this is the best football we have seen from our Gators in years. Let’s take a minute to appreciate it.

There's been some history of melees in the Big 10 and they're apparently trying to put a stop to it. Common denominator seems to be U-M.

I agree. In addition, posters who troll our threads will now be thread-banned, at least. Please call either my or Bill's attention to it so we can see and respond faster.. Between us we read almost every post on Swamp Gas anyway.

In addition there was pepper spray used to break up the fight. First time I have heard of that used in a football field to break up a fight. Let's be accurate it wasn't a melee, it was a fight.

There are many things I don't NEED to do but that I do anyway because they give me perverse satisfaction. Enraging those people is one of them.

 

This holier than thou bullshit has had a large hand in bringing us 15 years of mediocrity in football. A fight after a violent, intense rivalry game?? That’s terrible, we can NEVER let that happen again!!!!

You take the good with the bad. No one wants to play or coach for an organization that actively criticizes the way one successfully does what they are paid to do.

 

I just saw the Ohio State thing for the first time. Looks like planting the flag wasn't the major catalyst. Things looked to be getting separated and cooling down. After that a Michigan player was running with their flag right through a pack of Ohio State players that were heading back to their tunnel. The backup QB for Ohio State then snatched the flag by the fabric, ripped it off the pole, and some Ohio State players then stomped on the flag. Great stuff!

I would just ask that players keep their helmets on until they're done celebrating.

I wasn’t much of a football player, played through Jr high, however, I was a pretty good stock car driver. The first rule I learned was never take off your helmet in a fight.
