Who are all of these studs that decommitted from FSU after the playoff snub? I see only two from the link below. I also assume you know a a couple HS recruits don't make a big impact in year 1, very few freshmen do. So if your main argument is it cost them a couple HS recruits, I think that proves my point FSU was going to be sub .500 this year even if they made the playoff.

Only the transfer portal could have saved them in 2024, most of all they really needed to land Ward over Miami. Maybe the playoff snub affected Ward's decision, but probably not ($$$). My point is regardless of the playoff decision their core/foundation was incredibly poor that I'm not sure how it could have been salvaged even with a playoff selection.

 

If you don't think a PO appearance would have helped them tremendously then idk what to tell you? I have no idea if Ward was ever going there or not but you never know? NorveLLLLLLLLLL has been a mediocre recruiter at BEST there, so I won't argue your point about their roster. Also freshman sure made a HUGE impact for our Gators this year, why wouldn't they be able to do the same for fsWHO? Now I will argue against my point and more towards yours as MMM has not used his recruits hardly at all over the portal players, and for obvious reasons. But it's still CFB and sometimes all it takes is 1 or 2 kids to have a major impact.

Also look at how MMM has acted since the POC made their selection, he cried so much he totally neglected the team to make a spectacle of being "sNuBbEd" for Bama. And then the admin went full E-r'd on suing the ACC to get out of the conference thinking the SEC or Big10 would come flying in to take them. LMAO. For the record I like and love your posts, but I have also watched horrible hole teams recruit lights out when they had no business recruiting lights out. That conference is also usually comically bad and even horrible hole teams eek out wins that SHOULD have been losses. So to sum it up them being RIGHTFULLY left out of the playoffs have imploded that program.

 

To make matters worse, they probably lose more talent than UF does. Senior day had a number of starters including their biggest producers, punter and kicker

 

They should easily pick up a quality punter in the portal.

The punter is now like the quarterback at FSU.

 

I totally agreed with them being left out of the playoff, we're in solidarity there. Travis did so much for that team the last two years, it was clear how diminished they were without him. We're also laughing at their lawsuit together. Its such poetic justice after FSU claimed SMU is diminishing their brand that FSU had to go to Dallas, got blown out by SMU, and then watched SMU make the ACCCG while they finished in sole last place. #PonyUp

I just don't think any playoff snub effects FSU suffered would have contributed significantly this season (i.e. 2024). They had no talent pipeline to replace last year's losses, no development track record, no Lagway in their recruiting class or considering FSU that could make a difference in 2024. In fact we saw their freshman QB on Saturday and he while he competed very admirably, like 99% of freshmen QBs he's a year or two away. More importantly FSU's OL was bad, and freshmen never fix a bad OL. I love Lagway and Baugh, but even they wouldn't get much done behind the 2024 turnstyles. Freshmen like Lagway and Baugh can only succeed around a solid veteran core; UF built one taking lumps the last 2-3 years while FSU built a portal squad that left the team's core completely bare in 2024 and Norvell has no track record of building one via development as you've pointed out.

They tried to mine the portal to replace their 2023 stars, but failed at it because Jordan Travis, Jared Verse, and Keon Coleman aren't available in the portal every year. After this 2-10 campaign, good luck convincing any portal stud to go there anytime soon... So the good news is, IMO, any major effects of the playoff snub weren't felt this year but are going to be mostly felt in the next 2-3 years. BTW, I think we'll violently agree that going 2-10 will ABSOLUTELY affect them moving forward. I see ESPN has FSU's recruiting class currently ranked 40th behind conference rivals like Pitt, Duke (LOL!), and SMU (#PonyUp).

 

I'll be the 1st one standing by your post word for word! Norvell built that team on a house of portal cards and when the SR's left it came crashing down. I understand I am posting on a complete hypothetical situation. I just have a gut feeling that a PO berth would have benefitted them in a major way. Like what if they landed Ward instead of Miami? That would have been really interesting, as maybe CMC would have gotten desperate and landed DJU? Ward may have gotten them to .500 and DJU would have Miami about the same.

 

I hope the fsu freshman qb transfers. Lol. He’s got some grit.

In August, I was offered a deal to buy some "L's" and I turned it down. I figured there is NO WAY anyone could use so many of them in one season.
