    People want to remember what it is like to have a deep recession again I guess. Couple a recession with inflation that is still not under control, some real good times could ensue. Threaten all of our biggest trading partners with tarrifs, is it just a negotiation tactic? I hope so.

    armchair amateur take:

    Price levels are a national problem (rent and food) already.

    They keep wanting to lower interest rates to make sure that the stock market keeps going up but they know if they do it, we are in trouble.

    When the recession hits, if they try lowering rates to boost the economy and/or cutting taxes, or sending stimulus checks (usual tactics), inflation will run away and escape the bounds where it can be controlled by fiscal policy.
