You too certainly might be right, but this would be a tragic state of affairs indeed where all is basically already lost. If the rules are off, there would be no point in holding off of a family pardon, but neither would be there be any point in holding back from denying the election and staging a military coup.

Apparently to "conservatives" these three guys were convicted of "look the other way crimes".

And there's a good chance that in the relatively near future (probably within days following January 20, 2025) this guy will be walking free.
Man sentenced to 20 years for attacking police in Jan. 6 riot at US Capitol

Your view is that of prevailing opinion - he shouldn't have pardoned especially after saying he would not. Perhaps the better course would have been a commutation. Spares him the prison sentence without wiping away the guilt.

I'm amused that you and the other Trump supporters think arguing hypocrisy is your best line of attack here. "Don't worry, guys. If we accuse them of being hypocrites, they won't realize we're being hypocritical!"

Yes, that is indeed where we are. The guy who denied the election and attempted the coup just won. There were no consequences for it. And that has plenty of people wondering, "What's the point of caring about these norms that a significant percentage of our society aren't committed to enforcing? Why should we only enforce them against our side?" While I refuse to throw the baby out with the bath water, I don't blame anybody for feeling that way. A part of me feels that way.

You'd think she might want to avoid telling others they are wrong on this topic:

Funny, that ship has sailed. The country just elected the poster boy for criminal behavior. So be it.

At least Dad didnt make Hunter an Ambassador to France or give him a job in the WH.

To be clear, the rules still apply to me, you and anyone posting here. We are talking about elite or ruling class impunity, which has to some degree been protected for some time now, well before Trump. The pardon power has been used questionably before I was born. The main difference is no one is concerned about appearances anymore, because the fiction of accountability in our system has been exposed as a fiction - because it relied on informal practices, not anything codified or systemic, because we don't really have a democratic system of government. But I suppose it was nice for some people to believe it for awhile.

Hunter needs to run for president. It seems like Democratic consultants are always just looking to coopt Republicans anyways.

I dont think you have to know anything about Russia to surmise that dudes can be compromised by poon and you can use it to your advantage if you are so inclined. You could watch like one movie and learn that, or talk to any female sex worker.

Hunter was always going to be pardoned, either by Joe or Kamala. This has nothing to do with the consequences of the voters' actions. But I do agree that most Americans, including me, don't care that he was pardoned.

Meh. An analysis from Donzo only goes so far. Build up some credibility and I'll see you around. You are off to a rough start on this flyby. I dont remember you in here evaluating Trump's reliability.

So Saudi Arabia should be a pariah state from now on? That lasted less than two years with the Biden Admin.

Do you honestly think that any Admin is going to get anywhere WRT Middle East peace without the involvement of the most influential Sunni country in the region?
