Maybe, in principle, the pardon is a good idea, but it’s abused. It’s not just about Biden doing this for his son—it also impacts when we deal with other countries’s injustices. And in the US apparently some are above the law. Plus, it will only fuel Trump and his authoritarian drive. Biden’s refusal to step aside so Dems could have a primary and get a stronger candidate, then his push to elevate a unpopular Harris, and now this—his selfish decisions over the last year are hurting the country’s future (although what 82 year old father would choose to let their son potentially go to jail)
This has been in the planning since this summer but the Biden Admin choose to say it was not an option when they all knew it was still on the table:
And? Does that make it right? Pardons should be reserved for true injustices, like people convicted of things that are no longer crimes (or enforced crimes), people wrongfully convicted, or people who have earned mercy by turning their lives around inside.
Since you apparently believe that lying should be a disqualifying factor for the office of the presidency should the same criterion also apply to Donald Trump? Just asking.
Although you never expressly said it, it was a rather obvious implication from the X/Twitter link that you posted.
No it isn't. What I posted is for all the Biden nut swingers that have been touting that no one is above the law. Well I guess Hunter is and Biden is full of crap!
We have a fundamental disagreement over the scope and purpose of the pardon power. I have obtained many pardons for clients over the years on the state level and none of the would have met your narrow criteria.
It’s a joke Ty Webb. You’d think someone who uses that pic in their profile would have some sense of humor. I have a life unlike the person I quoted who I think lives on this site.
If your client got a pardon because their daddy is important, yes, we have a fundamental disagreement over the acceptability of that practice. Maybe seeing the lack of consequences for other powerful people's criminal behavior convinced him that his son should be above the law too.
