Or more accurately he knows that the best way to manipulate Trump is to feign fealty. Just a guess in the end Trump will hold press conferences (possibly a single joint press conference) with Sheinbaum and Trudeau withdrawing the tariffs before they are even implemented while announcing agreements implying that he forced them to capitulate when in fact very little has changed substantively, kind of like his USMCA which was simply NAFTA with minor modifications. Even Trump probably realizes that 25% tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada will not just be disastrous to the those countries but to the US as well.

Yesterday, CNN had the picture below on their front page. I can’t help but wonder if it was a subtle troll, juxtaposing a younger Trudeau with an unflattering photo of Trump. We all know how much appearance matters for trump.
If Trump can get the Mexican government to announce a return to having their military close down their southern boarder, similar to 2019, then I believe something came of it. Until then, I would agree that this is flattering Trump ego.

It's like you all think Trump hasn't had someone attempt to flatter his ego before. He didn't get to where he did by being gullible. Considering he came up in NYC, I'm certain he's seen every form of flattery there is a million times before. And as you noted, the track record is on his side. The track record doesn't favor his doubters on this subject.

Even a single conviction from a long time ago can result in a felon being denied entry by Canada.
Trump said he would sign an assault weapons ban in a televised meeting with Democrats. It took Republicans to convince him to backtrack on it. All Trump wants is for the people who have talked bad about him over the years to have to flatter him now. It comes from his years of being considered a joke by high Manhattan society, who look down on him as a real estate guy from Queens.

I love how these people rationalize the amounts of drugs and illegal invaders that cross their side of the border into the U.S. because they think they are unfairly being lumped in with Mexico. One thing that makes both Mexico and Canada EQUALLY guilty of a mass trafficking crime is that both of those two countries are letting people from all over the world come into their country because both countries know that those said people will simply be using their respective countries as a way to get into the U.S.A. They are BOTH aiding and abetting these criminal invaders to get into the U.S.A... They are both equally complicit in that crime against the USA. The Canadians can't wait to vote that scrum out of office, and Trump should do him NO favors. I almost posted the same network (CDC) interview the Premier of Alberta, Canada and her view of Trudeau, videoed about 3 or 4 days ago. She sounds more American than he ever did. Mrs, Smith, forgot her first name, is what I would call a true ally to the U.S.A., unlike that communist, Trudeau.
