That gym sucks. Lots of teams have had their worst game of the year there. It’s one game though. They had plenty of other opportunities to get themselves a higher seed.

Went to Nashville to see a game right before Covid shut everything down. My wife and I had free round trips on Southwest that we needed to use and Nashville is a nice place to visit.

Not only is the floor weird so are the scoreboards. Traditionally on a scoreboard the visiting team is on the left and the home team on the right. Not at Vandy. Also on the score board they gave points scored and fouls for players. At Vandy fouls are first and points scored is second. WTF?

What freaks me out is the elevated court (among other things). Very weird.

Why someone designed that gym in that manner is one of the great mysteries of our time. It’s like the architect was drunk and thought it would be novel to move the benches to both ends of the court and do something weird with the floor levels.
It makes Butler’s gym (seen in Hoosiers) look like Mad Sq Garden!

No sir; it’s just a basketball court with a floor and two goals. Go out and win the games there or anywhere. No excuses for the venue.

A lot of teams have bad showings there, and it’s not ‘cause Vandy is great. Not really any disputing that.

It’s like that tourney they do in the ?Bahamas? In a hotel conference room. Weird low ceilings. Really messes a lot of teams up. Weird venues that are setup totally different from a normal court definitely have an effect on a lot of players.

FSU only loss in early season is to UF. UF playing a good Wale team today. In leaf if team has played enough ball together to best Wake. Will know more after this game.

My favorite game of the season so far.

The wake coach summed it up well in his presser. He said we (wake) played well and Florida wasn't playing well, but they (uf) just kept fighting. He said usually you see offensive minded teams look for a spark through their offense, but Uf committed to the D to get things going. He just kept singing our praises.

He was more eloquent, but you get the point. This is what what missing last year: a commitment to defense that gets you through struggles/droughts. That D is also what feeds the transition and is helping our efficiency as we're far more efficient in transition than in the half court set.

Ha yeah it’s really just any team that playing in a tourney and started the season 6-0. Only two teams (NCAA and NIT) would it even be possible to have more wins.
