Pre-Game Discussion: FSU week!!!

The only thing that the Charleston Southern game proved was that a very bad FBS team is still much better than a very bad FCS team.

 

True, and Billy has praise for the Noles freshman QB, UF recruited him. He can run (has their longest run of the seaosn btw).
Watched several podcasts with evaluations of the two squads, Gators Breakdown (David Waters) was particularily good.

Almost every metric favors the Gators.

Interestingly UF gives up more YPG than the Seminoles but one has to look at the competition played.

And FSU's defense is really not that bad, it ain't good, but it's not nearly as bad as the offense, which prior to Charleston, just could not score and ranks among the worst in Power 4. Charleston is 1 - 10 btw.

FSU does have a good kicking game, their FG guy is outstanding, and can hit from 60, and their punter can flip the field.

Personally I think FSU will have some success against the Gator running game, so DJL will need to hit some explosives to loosen up the box.

I think the game will be competitive in the first half, and UF should wear them down and pull away in the second. (I hope).
I like UF 34 - 17 in ths one.

 

Listen, I get all of the paranoia that Gator fans have. I have lived through some rough games against the SWAC. My question to you guys is: Have you watched this clown team play this year? I have watched all of their games this year and this is one of the worst football teams I have ever seen. Charleston Southern even played them close for awile and they are a 1-10 FBS school. This team of clowns is a field goal kicker from Cal away from being 1-10 right now. CAL! These holes suck!

 

History tells us CBN doesn’t handle a lead very well. He has been too quick to take his foot off the long skinny pedal on the right. I can’t argue with you there.
Im hoping he has learned that playing not to lose doesn’t work out very well against the teams we play. I think he does see some of his own shortcomings and acts on them.

 

I hope, and think they will, stack the box and play man coverage in the secondary. Winner of the ground game, as is often the case, tends to win. I can see Norvell taking this approach and hoping their freshman QB can out big play our freshman QB.

Remember, we weren't that good until we put a freshman signal caller in. It's possible that FSU experiences the same here.

You should be Norvell's spokesman. He really needs one now.

 

I think DJL will make them PAY if they go one on one press coverage against our recievers. He may just have a huge day if they do that, ala Sanford.

 

clowns have a running QB, who once in a while can complete a pass. If we contain the QB, we shouldn't have a problem shutting them down.

FSU has mostly played man all season, so it tracks.

Also - what other plan could he have? Cover 3 to take away the big play and we'll gash them with our zone running game.

 

Got this from a diehard Seminole fan, take it for what it worth.

All the more reason not to believe it, but also until this cycle (now being picked apart) their high school classes have been very poor, and we see now the dependence on the portal guys being developed already and the underdevelopment of their high school recruits. I saw an article by a Seminole rag on their top 10 players developed under Norvell, and it was very embarrassing.

2nd quarter!

 

Hard to get rid of all the pessimism sometimes. I hope we can pull away in the first half because we are notoriously flat in the 3rd quarter under Napier. One more area where maybe a dedicated OC can improve things.
