I didn't agree with taking the years off the wall at The Swamp, not that my opinion was asked for.

I didn't agree with doing away with the Gator Bait! chant either. I use it in my signature.

They do alot i dont agree with. Being 100% politically is cowering from having an opinion. I agree not to get political but worried about someones feelers for saying gatorbait is just weak.

Totally agree. Note that my frame of reference at the time was 1979
I thought it was Tennessee who led the charge. Of course LSU became the beneficiary of it.

Voting in favor of UF: Florida, Bama, Auburn, MSU

Voting against UF: Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Vandy

Spending 12 years in Georgia during the 70s and 80s created a burning hatred for those people. What's interesting is the contempt they had for UF even then (before we'd won anything) and the corresponding arrogance they had for their goober schools. Like, they truly think they're harder working and have more integrity just because they're from Georgia. Talk about clueless arrogance. The rest of the country sees them for what they are, the Gomer Pyle of the lower 48 states.

Matt Hayes wrote an article about Billy and the team

Florida, Billy Napier upset Ole Miss to further unlikely turnaround

"The defense, an historical mess over the last two seasons, got better when a group of players showed up at Napier’s office and told him the scheme had to change. It had to be simplified.

Napier listened, and the unit has developed into one of the best in the SEC. Ole Miss had three trips inside the red zone Saturday, and didn’t get a point.

Ole Miss failed on two critical fourth-down attempts, ending 65- and 69-yard drives with nothing to show for it. The Gators had four sacks and harassed Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart into his worst game of the season. "

I had to put my windows zoom at 50% to get rid of the popup and read the article

Only reason I would - and this is pre playoffs - is because I don't think the other conferences have to run the gauntlet the way the SEC teams do. So, yeah, I'd root for Bama over OSU.

That latter part had nothing to do with SEC unity and everything to do with the curbstomping we put on OSU in the Fiesta Bowl. . . and subsequent beatdowns by LSU and BAMA in subsequent years.

I rooted for them in 83. Again, living in Georgia among the hicks who thought all teams from Florida were inferior, so I had to represent my state.

In our defense, back in the 60s and 70s the south was totally disrespected by the snobs in the Big 10, the PAC 10, and the elitist media. Hard to imagine if your frame of reference is 90s and later, but the SEC was fighting for recognition back in those days. And I didn’t hate Miami back then. They weren’t the scum they are today

Weak doesn't even begin to approach the attitude that led to this. Pathetic is probably a better word.

I enjoy it when you and others explain things to one of our resident knuckleheads, even when I don't know who it is or what you're responding to. It's definitely somebody I kicked to the cornfield at some point and it's good to know you and Skink, et al will get them sorted out, to the betterment of all. You can't completely eliminate actual trollery, but you can sure as hell call it out. As for me, I'm old and grouchy and fresh out of patience with guff and horse hockey. So, when they reveal themselves as trolls or jack asses, I send them you know where without further delay. KUTGW. GG!

And the goobers did the same thing to us, for the opposite reason. UF was "too Yankee".

Correct, but UGa didn't take long to tag itself in. That douchenozzle Dooley sticking his nose in. I absolutely loved it when the Jan Kemp thing came up and then UGa fired him as AD later on. Got a big laugh out of that.

I take pride in our conference kicking everybody else's ass, but I still don't want anyone else to be the national champion. Actually, I just want the other teams to lose and their conference to suck. Meteor game mentality

These numbers would have resulted in several more wins if we had anything similar in the past few years, including Mullen's last two.

I was very happy to see this admission in the article:

We only focused on the losses, and how much closer they brought Napier to the inevitable reality of unemployment. We ignored a talented core of underclassmen beginning to figure it out, and a rare talent at quarterback with the ability to not only play at a high level — but get others to play to their ceiling, too.
