Bluesky and Threads are growing very fast as users move away from Twitter as a result of the perception of Elon’s meddling. I think Bluesky is a superior option as it feels as user friendly as Twitter with additional controls to eliminate trolls and bots which have overrun Twitter. Threads is a lot like instagram with more text.

As you can see below they are the number 1 and number 2 most downloaded free app from the App Store. I personally only use twitter if I want to post a link here since it embeds well. But soon so will those sites.

Social media sites without liberal celebrities and journalists have failed miserably - such as Truthsocial. It will be interesting to watch if this is a speed bump for twitter or a cliff.

Bluesky and Threads find opportunity as users and advertisers flee X

Bluesky has more than 21 million users. Where does it go from here?

I don’t tweet and don’t have any desire to spend more time on social media, but I’m glad to see alternatives flourishing at twitter’s expense

I've never tweeted much, but Twitter was good for following intelligent people who post good news articles; very effective as a news aggregator.

Elon Musk is such a vile, un-American POS though, that I rarely log on any more. And when I do, it has seemed for a long while like the algorithm has changed to stir up animosity. Lot's of posts from people I don't want to see, trolling type posts.

I keep intending to delete my account, but just haven't got around to it. I will though.

I agree—X is a great source for the latest, highly specific information. However, it’s off-putting when the first thing you see are Musk’s goofy posts. On top of that, there’s just so much more hate speech now.

“What we’ve seen,” says Ed Saperia, dean of the London College of Political Technology, “is controversial content drives engagement. Extreme content drives engagement.” Creating toxic content became a viable livelihood, which my 16-year-old, on football X, noticed way before I did: people saying patently wrong things for hate-clicks”

Racism, misogyny, lies: how did X become so full of hatred? And is it ethical to keep using it? | X | The Guardian
