I just did not see us winning both the LSU and Old Miss games. I wanted one of the two and represent in the other. This is definitely a game-changer. I just hope we all don't have too many "been there, done that" experiences next year.

 

There’s a lot of people on this message board that should be straight up ashamed of themselves - not for doubting Billy because we all had our doubts at various points during this season - not that, it’s the disrespect and the insulting, often downright abusive nature of so many of the comments. Straight up hate toward a clearly good man. You know who you are- it’s time to back the hell off

 

You do not believe we are playing better now than at the start of the season? You watched the first 2.5 years and saw BN as so proven that nobody should question he was doing the job? World is binary to a simple mind.

Don’t respond to the above questions because, as usual, you will be incapable of respectfully discussing data, changing conditions, and others opinions, and make things personal with people you’ve never met. On brand.

Side note - I never got personal with BN. Go thru my posts. Everything was based on his coaching - then and now. See, that is fair and what message boards are for. Not posters calling coaches lazy or dumb, or posters questioning the ”quality of fandom” of other posters.

Fact is, my post that triggered you wasn’t even directed at you. You have certainly been hard on Billy, but you haven’t been one of the insulting disrespectful posters I was addressing. As I said, they know who they are.

But amid all this lighthearted “eating crow” bantering back and forth on this board, your “no crow for me” post was laughable. That’s what I blew back at you.

Sad to see people celebrating this turnaround as a vindication of Billy Napier and not DJ Lagway. It's most definitely DJ Lagway. We just need Napier to stay out of his way. The team will come to play every day, because they respect their QB.

As I mentioned yesterday, I believe statistically teams only win like 10% of games when they lose the total yardage count by 120~ yards. That is not to take anything away from the win, but a team can't win like that consistently. Look how many times Ole Miss had to turn it over on downs, missed FGs, INTs, just to give us a 7-point cushion. It's unrealistic to expect to win consistently like that long term. LSU out-gained us too. We can't win every tough game like that, but we do have room to improve with Lagway and the younger guys maturing.

Regardless of what others may say, losing the total yardage to LSU and Ole Miss is a Napier holdover. We are winning games now because of Lagway. If Mertz had not been hurt, he would still be starting games.

 

He fessed up, changed the avatar, ate his crow. He's had some good takes on things, I'm good with him.

 

The biggest improvement has been the sheer number of turnovers and the resulting empty possessions for the opposition. Add to that the associated improved field position for us on offense. No doubt DJ has steadily improved and will continue to do so but the oline is improving weekly and the offensive skill positions are playing much better also. Lastly, we arent killing drives with penalties when on offense

 

Being sub .500 at Florida was and still is not up to the standard set or expected. Billy is now showing results, not signs, not progress, results. Good, let's keep it going into the off season.

Hopefully 2025 opens with a team prepared and the best players on the field getting vengeance in a 80% gator filled Hard Rock.

 

Completely agree with you, Skink! I hate losing more than anybody, but the level of disdain for our coaches was disgraceful and made me feel ashamed to be in this group of so-called fans!

 

Exactly. Mertz was also moving the team consistently vs Tenn before injury
..Lagway had some highs and lows in that game but mertz would have been a nice option late

 

Meh! We lost our share of games where we outgained our opponents. Everybody still counts it as a loss, nonetheless. Sure I want to win the stats column most of the time, but if my defense and/or special teams can win some games for me, that's great! This is a great opportunity now to win recruiting battles and dominate the transfer portal this winter!

Never said the last two games didn't count as wins. They most definitely do. Just pointing out that it is unlikely for a team to continue winning like that, losing the yardage battle. We have some more improvement to make. I know Lagway will continue to improve week-to-week.
